TOMORROW, May 14, a Moms Demand event to push for the passage of HB 4774 - the bill to require registration of ALL firearms - will take place in Lansing. HB 4774 has been stalled in the House Judiciary Committee for a year - and needs to DIE there.

To counter Moms Demands, there will be an anti-HB4774 event at 11:30. Anyone who can be there will be lining the Capitol sidewalk in protest of this bill.

Tell legislators to keep their hands off our firearms!

Registering is hard, with the noise, bullets and slide cycling. Besides it is illegal under the US constitution and the rider Reid put in the Health care bill. In either case I will not register or surrender mine.

Background checks save lives - Really ?, all I can say is BULLSCHIT - do you think a criminal gives a damn about a background check ?. When are these uneducated fools going to figure this out ?.

According to MCRGO, both sides of the issue brought out about 2 dozen supporters. As a "plus," the debate was covered by Michigan Public Radio and the AP; I wouldn't expect either of those outlets to be supportive of our side. They will, no doubt, support Moms Demand's drive to extend firearms registration to ALL firearms. According to MD, by not supporting universal firearms registration we are supporting criminals. We'll just conveniently forget the fact that, according to FBI stats, there were just over 600 murders committed in the entire country using long guns, Crime Stats: You are more likely to be killed by hands and feet than by a shotgun or rifle | The Daily Caller.

And for their information, as one more proof that background checks will stop next to nothing, the following is from the FBI firearms crime report, 1993 - 2011 (specifically from year 2004; it should be noted that gun shops have become even more conscientious in the last 10 years):

In other words, as of 2004, 88.7% of all firearms used by criminals were acquired from sources other than gun shops (7.3%) or gun shows (0.8%). Unfortunately, 2004 is the most recent year for which the FBI provides this data, and is based on a survey of criminals in federal and state prisons. As I said, I can say with certainty that things have tightened up significantly since 2004, and I am certain that an even smaller percentage of firearms are obtained by criminals via gun shops or gun sows now than was the case in 2004.
