House Bill 3665, introduced by state Representatives Dan Cooper (now resigned), Mike Pitts (R-14), and Bill Taylor (R-86), passed its second reading in the state House today by a 82 to 3 vote, and will face its final House vote tomorrow. This bill would repeal the prohibition on selling handguns in South Carolina that fail to meet an arbitrarily determined "melting point" standard in the handgun licensing provision. HB 3665 was amended yesterday to include a provision that would allow a concealed handgun permittee to carry a firearm in restaurants that serve alcohol – as long as no alcohol is consumed while carrying. This amendment, introduced by Representative Pitts, was approved in the House by an 83 to 7 vote today.

Virginia passed the restaurant bill last year. So far, no drunken massacres in spite of all the wailing and hand-wringing.

Glad to hear it's moving forward. I started to work with Senator Paul Campbell on his support and action along with Berkeley County Sheriff Dewitt. Both supported this amendment with a zero BAC. Keep pressing your representatives to support and pass to the full legislature.
Just moving to NC of recent, I'll be working on it with my NC Reps to amend NC State Law as well . It's just not right that you can't OC/CC in a restaurant that serves as long as you remain sober.

i'll still eat at restaurants, just disarm. it's not their fault the law was put in place and they couldnt allow you to carry if they wanted to. with that being said...when this passes and a restaurant puts up a no CC sign, i wont be back.

I just find places that don't serve..It is not a matter of boycotting. It is about my safety.

If it does pass and a restaurant puts up the refusal sign then I will boycott.

Go ahead, disarm, then have a nice meal.
It's not like you could ever become the victim of a possible violent crime in any restaurant.
I mean if firearms are not allowed inside that particular establishment I'm sure that the bad guys will also obey the rules right?

You'll be fine don't worry about it, if some psycho with a weapon decides to go postal in the joint just 'comply' like a good little sheep.
Maybe the bad guy won't even hurt you or your family.

In response to the massacre,[5] the Texas Legislature in 1995 passed a shall-issue gun law, which requires that all qualifying applicants be issued a Concealed Handgun License (the state's required permit to carry concealed weapons), removing the personal discretion of the issuing authority to deny such licenses. To qualify for a license, one must be free-and-clear of crimes, attend a minimum 10-hour class taught by a state-certified instructor, pass a 50-question test, show proficiency in a 50-round shooting test, and pass two background tests, one shallow and one deep. The license costs $240 to $290, depending on the added instructor's fee.

The law had been campaigned for by Dr. Suzanna Hupp, who was present at the time of the shootout where both of her parents were shot and killed. She later expressed regret for obeying the law by leaving her firearm in her car rather than keeping it on her person due to the fact that it could have cost her her chiropractic license.[6] She testified across the country in support of concealed handgun laws, and was elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 1996.[7] The law was signed by then-Governor George W. Bush.[8]

Now if you SC fellows could convince the great state of South Carolina to honor my GA license I could come visit more often.

Do Texans think that is what the founders had in mind when they adopted the 2A?

Probably won't happen until the national reciprocity gets approved. GA doesnt recognize SC either. Had to put n for my AZ non-resident to carry in GA.

Ummmm...Nope.

And why are you even poking your nose into this post n*g*ds?
Does Hodgey need another LibTarded buddy to back him up??

ANSWER THE QUESTION HODGEY! STOP DODGING!

Hodgey said and I quote;

"There are situations where you cannot help but disarm. if i lived my entire life in a paradoid panic, i'd grow up into something resembling you and i just cant have that."

I retorted; "WHAT ABOUT THE VICTIMS OF THE LUBY'S MASSACRE?"

Still no smart assed comeback to that question Hodgey!?

P.s.
I'm not originally from Texas.
Although I did move to the Great Lone Star State as soon as I could.

also, you want to get into nogods for posting here, the same could be asked of you. SC post and you come waltzing in.
