could i have used a cwp on this guy

just had some questions regarding cwps. about 6 months ago i got a job at the post office. before that i was working for a friend of mine doing food delivery service. the place caters more to the bar crowd and we have strange experiences with whackos from time to time. sometimes it was kinda funny, sometimes not so funny. for instance, once time i got my car stolen. i went to a house, they let me in, gave them their food, and waited a short time to collect money. i always leave my car running. i got outside and my car was gone. turns out one of their relatives was drunk and misbehaving acting all crazy and he happen to be outside when i got there and he took my car without me even knowing and smashed it. i go outside and my car was gone. now what if it were a situation where i was being forced out of the car? like what if he tried grabbing me through the windows or opening my door and pulled me out. not necessarily threatening my life but using physical force to remove me from my property. i mean i obviously wouldnt want to shoot and kill someone for something like that but could i at least try and hit them in the leg or just a way to maim them without being lethal?

depends on what state you live in. here in iowa your life has to be in danger before you can pull your gun. and as for the shooting in leg bad idea. dead people cant sue and ive been told by local police that if you shoot you better kill them or you can go to jail.

My CWP is just a plastic card like a drivers license... maybe I should start sharpening the edge so I can use it like a razor knife should I ever need to.

In South Carolina, Castle Doctrine is not only for your home but is specifically mentioned for your car as well. Forcible entry into your occupied car is a clear presumption of imminent death or great bodily injury. If I have my firearm on me and this happens to me, he dies and it is a good and legal shooting with no civil recourse by the family of the "good boy".

Research your local laws, they vary dramatically. As far as shooting to disable or maim, not a good idea, if you need to draw go center mass.

if someone was manhandling me while in my vehicle i'd prolly wind up shooting him as i'm no mind reader and wouldn't know if he just wanted my vehicle or inflict bodily harm or both
i'm in florida and syg is a good law giving us the right to shoot if you feel bodily harm is upon you or already in progress....

Troll Alert!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

perhaps the op learned not to leave his car running whilst out doing deliveries........but ya can't shoot someone in your car fleeing the scene with your car while you at the curb watching the taillights growing smaller......
some lessons are learned the hard way
........
best wishes

If you have to ask you have no business packing a firearm.

Depends on your state law. I live in Oregon and there have been instances where someone was being carjacked and used a gun in self defense. Its not really a question of could I, but more should I? Legally you could be completely justified, but lose everything you have in a civil suit.

thanks for the response. where exactly can i find the locals laws? do they have anything at the courthouses usually? im in MI and i know you need to take a class but thats all i know as far as getting a CWP. i do plan on doing this but im just gathering some background information for now.

yeah lol for sure dont leave the car running anymore. it only takes seconds for some drunk to hop in and take off. even in the small town im in which has been increasing in crime. yeah i knew you couldnt shoot someone fleeing, in fact in MI here you cant shoot anyone in the back, even if they are breaking into your house. thanks
