Ok now I'm the farthest thing from a basher. I work in private security and work closely with the police and have a great relationship with most of them. But this is insane. This guy should be facing prison time not a suspension.

Although I believe most police officers have good intent, many citizens struggle with the concept that those that go into law enforcement come from the same cross section of society as the rest of us. In that cross section are frauds, mentally challenged, ego chasers, power grabbers, etc. People walk thru this world blindly thinking they can trust the police. Just like the people in this world, I don't trust them to protect me or my children. Sadly, you can't trust anybody's intentions now days.

I don't think anybody should trust cops to protect them. They're passive protection at best. They don't show up unless you call, and you don't call until something has already happened. Hopefully that something is a bad guy laying dead on the floor and not you.

While you state most PO's have good intent, you contradict that, in my opinion by saying you can't trust anyone. I have yet to meet an LE that I cannot trust. Perhaps it is just me or the areas where I have lived and travelled. But I know, if I am respectful to an LE who has stopped me or I am interacting with, I have yet to find one not totally professional toward me. I realize there may be a few that are undeserving of that respect but do not believe those few should form the basis of my opinion or expectations of the LE Community. The officer in this video may be one of the exceptions. I do not condone the use of a taser except as a less than lethal instrument to stop another person from harming themselves or others.
- Just my opinion.

COP USES TASER ON 10 YEAR OLD KID - For Refusing to Clean Patrol Car - YouTube

UnFrigginBelievable

If that so called 'cop' would have tazed my 10 year old son 'accidentally'.....
I would find him, stalk him, and then, when he's vulnerable, I would 'accidentally' hobble both of his kneecaps with an aluminum baseball bat.
If he went for a sidearm, then I would 'accidentally' hobble his forearms and hands as well.

I am with you. If anyone hurts or any of my kids I feel that they must have death wish and it would be my job to arrange that. Now I know that I may go to prison for some time if not for life but the dirt bag would be feeding the worms.

As for LEOs, my next door neighbor is one and we no longer get along. I tried to be a neighbor for 14 years and then when my wife and I were gone my kids had a party. My "good LEO neighbors kids" call the police on them. this caused some problems for my kids. There were many other things that they were doing but I let it go and overlooked it. In short he seemed to think that he could do whatever he wanted to. Now I overlook NOTHING and will call the LEOs on him. At first they would not do anything to him because he was a fellow badge. Then I had a talk with the Mayor. He put a stop on his actions.

I do believe that there are good LEOs out there so I try to give them the benefit of doubt. Then if they are an ***** then they will lose my respect.

Tasing has caused deaths due to cardiac arrest. It's a dirty little secret. I'd prefer authorities call it an "almost non-lethal weapon". It's necessary at times.

Having said that, the officer who tased that minor should be facing loss-of-job and jail time. Even if accidental. No excuse. Travesty of Justice.

They all ready realized that and they are no longer "non lethal", they are known as less than lethal aka less of a chance of death but still a chance.

So he was treating a weapon as if it was unloaded. He shouldn't just lose his job, he should lose all weapon privleges.

Suspension is not enough.

When is it appropriate to point and fire any unloaded (as he thought it was) weapon of any sort at anyone or any animal. :shout: He actions deserve more than just suspension, it is this kind of conduct that creates the disrespect that youth have for authority in todays society. Those they are supposed to be able to trust and look up to can not conduct themselves in this manner and expect anything less than what they get.

Any cop I don't know PERSONALLY is just another stranger, just like any other. I don't know him, his motivations or intentions.

I don't think most cops have good intent. I think most cops have undetermined intent, just like any other total stranger.

I have no more reason to blindly trust strange cops than I have to blindly trust guys who work in candy factories...

Yes there are bad cops I told the truth and fellow officers tried to get even with me, after I was seriously injured I also filed a civil rights 1984 case against my own department it was so egregious I won the case (settled out of court, well I was awarded enough money anyway) it is a sad truth if some had not become LEO they would have been criminals and in jail, yes I have a bad attitude but my family was hurt physically as well

I hear "respecting LEOs" a lot in USA Carry. I'm baffled. At what point did we cease being respectful to everybody? At what point did we begin to treat LEOs as "special?" Any encounter with an LEO is either a legal detainment / arrest or not - that simple. Citizens should not feel the need to "respect" a taxpayer-funded employee because he carries a gun any more than anybody else and frankly, I'm weary of all the cajoling given to LEOs. There are dozens of private sector professions empirically more dangerous per hour than any any LEO postion yet they and firefighters have ridden that free pony to exorbitant perks and pensions for decades. As far as tasers are concerned I think it's cowardice for police to use these tools of torture as frivously and as often as they do - basing this on what I read. I was an electrician for years and I think my fellow electricians will agree that using electrification as a routine tool to shut up a disrespectful person is cruel and unusual – and from what I’ve seen and read, tasers are too routinely used in non-violent situations.

Additionally, police adulation is a major reason why our liberties are increasingly being circumvented and why the proverbial police state is real and growing. Similar police idolization can be seen throughout history (Nazi SS, e.g.) whenever citizens lose their own power identity and warm up to the State and the State’s representatives – government-lovers I guess would describe them. Sheesh!

I completely agree with you. Additionally, police adulation is a major reason why our liberties are increasingly being circumvented and why the proverbial police state is real and growing. There are too many citizens who treat cops the way a peasant in occupied China would treat a Japanese soldier, stepping into the street to clear their path, bowing and scraping. There are far too many cops eager to encourage that behavior too.
