Cop almost lost his gun at wally world

Today, while buying a nice cheap red coffee pot...I saw a Star Prairie, WI police officer walking around our Wally world. I only noticed him because his rig was hanging at 5:00, bouncing precariously from a 60 degree angle to about a 35 degree angle with every other step. I followed him around for a while, waiting for it to fall so I could be the first to ridicule him.

His weapon could have been stolen many many times, here is a list of what i saw:

1. He stopped to look at some TVs, some teenagers made a few passes and while I watched, one of them started motioning to his friends and mimicked reaching for it. One looked at me and I shook my head 'no' at him. They left.
2. He looked at DVDs, double fisting dvd cases while many many people walked within inches behind him.
3. He walked to the photo center, stood in line at the kiosk for about 10 minutes and texted in a clogged aisle. I half expected the gun to be gone or to fall.
4. He stood at the kiosk for around 5 minutes and never once checked his rig, not that his elbow would have reached it where it was at...
5. He walked slowly back to the parking lot, rig bouncing up and down, glock wobbling to and fro, nearly losing the holster many times. I could see the inside of the waistband at one point. Shameful...

I didn't confront him because he is obviously an idiot and would resort to threats or violence once challenged on his "number one safety." What's that? HIS BRAIN. I prefer to let him have an accident since stupid people are going to do stupid things, no matter how many times you tell them to secure it.

All this can be avoided with a good ol leather belt. I'm sure the department issued him one with the uniform. No excuse. Not cop bashing, just observing and reporting what I saw.

This post is worse than the incident you described. First, you saw a police officer's "rig" not properly secured and instead of politely notifying him about it you follow him just so you could ridicule him in the event his "rig" fell. Second, you assume he is an idiot and would resort to threats or violence. How do you know this? Do you know the officer? Does he have a history of threatening people or resorting to violence? If so, you should have mentioned it in your write-up. Lastly, any number of things could have happened if the "rig" fell, i.e. loss of weapon, accidental discharge, or the officer wouldn't be able to respond quickly to a threat. Ultimately the officer is at fault for his actions or failure of but you're an idiot for not taking action to ensure the safety of those around you.

A better person and responsible citizen would have made an effort to correct the situation. Most people wouldn't know better but since you did you should of or could of done something to correct it.

I hope you feel better about yourself.

Wah wah wah...cry me a river. I did not get involved because, as i stated, I have reason to believe the officer would retaliate, either on his own or more likely by siccing his buddies on me and my family, which cops are famous for. I have no interest in a conflict. If anything, you should stop complaining and thank me for watching his back. Me walking up to him and correcting his behavior is nothing more than taunting, as far as LEOs are concerned. And yes, if he carries like an idiot, he deserves the same ridicule the village idiot would receive for waving his dong at traffic. No matter how many times you correct a careless person, in this case, a COP...they will continue to do it the way they have been. It takes time to get used to carrying. When my rig is starting to deteriorate, I can feel it. I just bought a new OWB holster because the belt loop was loose and beginning to wobble, which was very noticeable to me. This cop obviously is used to carrying in this haphazard manner. He never ONCE checked his rig.

Had it fallen, I would have had his badge number and taken it to the mayor along with the pictures I took. I may still turn him in. Had it discharged, I would have had his face all over TV.

Cop groupie...

nkcci nailed it, you're an idiot.
See? You cops are quick to point out somebody else's downfalls...yet when faced with your own, no matter how it is presented to you, you get emotional and act out. Just because you have a badge does not make you right. If you don't like us common ordinary citizens (your employers) weighing in on your actions, quit. It's simple. We pay for your training, which includes firearm safety, your uniform, equipment and insurance. Do the damn job right.

Besides your dislike of me calling a cop on his mistake, what reason do you have to call me an idiot?(other than your bad temper.)

Tricolordad, I agree with most others when they say you are a idiot. instead of following him and waiting for something happen, a normal person would have brought it to his attention.
If his rig did fall and it went off and it hit someone, BECAUSE you were hoping something would happen, instead of bringing it to his attention, how would you feel then? Im sure your one of those that wouldnt be sadden, but instead looking for a way to make money..
Life is a *****, and you dont help a Officer in need, that might be one that would help you in your time in need.. Just grow up already..

Im not going to get into the name calling crap, but I would have politely told him that his holster was an accident waiting to happen, rather than wait for the accident to happen and add fuel to the fire by ridiculing him.

I agree with the others. If I saw this I would have informed the person that they might want to secure their holster better.

I avoid police officers as much as possible. I wouldn't have been following him around, I wouldn't say anything to him, nor would I have had the opportunity to ridicule him if something bad were to happen, because I avoid them as much as possible! If I saw the officer with his pistol hanging like that, I would immediately leave, either that part of the store, or the store all together. I advice you to do the same Tricolor. As you said, confrontation and the law enforcement aren't exactly at the peak of civility at the moment, it's best to avoid the situation completely.

I'm not a cop...but I'm not afraid of talking to them either. It seems silly to me to act as if they are any different from anyone else...they won't bite ;)

I would have informed him and went on my way.

I'm not a cop nor am I a cop groupie. Hell, I don't even know any cops. I just know stupid when I read, see, or hear it.

My response is not emotional rather it's rational. You're an idiot for what you did and wrote. Your actions were not of a responsible or caring person but that of a vindictive braggart. You failed to act and your comments are telling of what kind of person you are.

Have fun Judgers McJudgerson.

Oh my, we all know how bad cops are. They will follow you home after something like this. I have buddies that have told me of horror stories of these bad guys. What ever you do, never talk to a cop first. Never. I always call the plumber when I need help in a 911 type of incident, cheaper than a lawyer and safer, they dont carry a gun most of the time.:sarcastic:

One more thing, maybe some folks should change name on here to Wannabe.

Good for you! and about 300 normal people also said nothing because we are not stupid. Many cops are megalomaniacs and I prefer to get my daily cup of crazy from my wife.

Blah blah blah

chen, normally i would agree, but this guy was just a negligent slob. He deserves ridicule.

Now watch the waterworks come gushing forth. Boohoo tricolordad doesnt trust a cop.

Gonzales v. Castle Rock
Daniel Harless

Good ol Harless by himself is more than enough reason not to trust any of you.

Stick around the gun forums long enough and you will see that most of them have large egos and will get extremely emotional if you dont agree with them. They make damn sure you know how "superior" they are to us, their employers.

Call me an idiot. It wont change this cops negligent behavior. Lol

Seems like you are the judgmental one around here.

Gonzales v Castle Rock

cops dont help me, I dont help them. They continually argue that they have no responsibility to protect the public and the supreme court agrees.

Bingo.
I agree this thread is cop bashing flame bait, that said (as I am sure Chen will attest) if I don’t know you I don’t approach you, cop or not.

People don’t like to be corrected and they certainly don’t like to be corrected in public by strangers.

If you’re dumb enough to wear your weapon like that you deserve what you get .

I’m gonna MYOB
