Today, while buying a nice cheap red coffee pot...I saw a Star Prairie, WI police officer walking around our Wally world. I only noticed him because his rig was hanging at 5:00, bouncing precariously from a 60 degree angle to about a 35 degree angle with every other step. I followed him around for a while, waiting for it to fall so I could be the first to ridicule him.
His weapon could have been stolen many many times, here is a list of what i saw:
1. He stopped to look at some TVs, some teenagers made a few passes and while I watched, one of them started motioning to his friends and mimicked reaching for it. One looked at me and I shook my head 'no' at him. They left.
2. He looked at DVDs, double fisting dvd cases while many many people walked within inches behind him.
3. He walked to the photo center, stood in line at the kiosk for about 10 minutes and texted in a clogged aisle. I half expected the gun to be gone or to fall.
4. He stood at the kiosk for around 5 minutes and never once checked his rig, not that his elbow would have reached it where it was at...
5. He walked slowly back to the parking lot, rig bouncing up and down, glock wobbling to and fro, nearly losing the holster many times. I could see the inside of the waistband at one point. Shameful...
I didn't confront him because he is obviously an idiot and would resort to threats or violence once challenged on his "number one safety." What's that? HIS BRAIN. I prefer to let him have an accident since stupid people are going to do stupid things, no matter how many times you tell them to secure it.
All this can be avoided with a good ol leather belt. I'm sure the department issued him one with the uniform. No excuse. Not cop bashing, just observing and reporting what I saw.
