Looks good, but just curious... is there enough heat generated to the slide after firing the gun to melt the crayon?

When I customized an LC9 as an anniversary present for my girlfriend I used her hot pink acrylic nail polish to fill in the lettering and the sights. Little messy to apply but it works well, and takes much more of a beating than crayon would I'm assuming.

I used fingernail polish in my AR lower as well. The trick with nail polish is get the cheap watery stuff. If you use the good thick stuff it doesn't come up as easy.

Did that a while back, if you dont shoot much its not a problem, but if the crayon get even a little warm it don't really melt, but get soft and if you touch it it smears, and it also seems to get dirty fast, does a better job to clean it good and use paint, then wipe the excess before it dries

You might want to think about the ramifications from a prosecutor's and jury's point of view when it comes to "painting" or marking your weapon. Weak argument for sure, but even weak ones can easily be used to insinuate that your an evil gun owner blah blah blah. Just suggesting to tread carefully.

Have seen folks do this - but just don't see any reason to do so myself. Guess I just do not see my weapons as show pieces, but as tools. So, keep them clean, use them often.

Have they ever tried to use a custom paint job against the defendant in a DUI case? Just curious...

All in the eye of the beholder. The same can be said about cars...some just buy one to get them from one place to another, others like to outfit them and decorate them with all sorts of bells and whistles.

Most people own guns as tools, yes. But some of those also own them as a form of recreation. IMHO, the "tool" argument is what has allowed Congress to push gun matters as far as they have. It allows them to say "well if it's a tool for self defense, then you only NEED 'x' or 'y'...". So that allows the NEED argument to come into play. Well I NEED an AR15 with a 30 round magazine about as bad as Tiger Woods needs a set of golf clubs. Can we both live with them...probably. Do we want to? Nope. And that's what makes America a free country, allowing law abiding citizens to own whatever they want and do whatever they want with it as long as it is not breaking the law or harming anyone else. Rant off.

I took the crayon out and used nail polish.lol. And it's a cheapo gun definitely not a show piece.. I more less wanted to practice polishing the barrel because iv never polished anything in my life.lol

I don think he was bitching. Just trying to make a point. You never know what an attorney will try. But I agree if he tried to go after a paint job I think any educated judge or jury would ridicule him out of the courtroom. Especially when all he did was fill in the pre-existing manufacturers marks.

Yeah I mean maybe if you painted a devil's head or wrote something menacing...but coloring words would be more than just a stretch.
