Firing cannons is great fun. I used to help on a cannon crew when I was shooting with the North-South Skirmish Association. Shooting real projectiles will add quite a bit to the recoil and make those bronze barrels ring like a bell. I don't reckon it would be much fun being on the receiving end though.
