"South Carolina does not honor NON-Resident permits/licenses. You must be a resident of the state they honor for your permit to be honored."

All,

I recently moved from AZ to SC and I have a CCW permit from AZ and is still valid. However, reading the above it sounds like as a resident of South Carolina they will not honor my permit from AZ?

AZ does not require you to have residency to obtain a permit.

So, my question to all of you is this: SC does not recognize this permit even tho I am a resident here?

Please help......

Thanks in advance.

BTW, as a footnote. I took a CCW class here in SC and the Local Sheriff would not give his permission to have a CCW. Flustrates me as he is not accountable to me, with substantiated reason as to why he declined me. Heck, I never even been to SC before I moved here in 3/2011.

I never been arrested for felonies or anything of the sort (or they would not have issued the permit to me in AZ).

Pissed at this local sheriff. Think Dorchester County.

If you are a resident of South Carolina only, then only a South Carolina permit is valid for you. BTW, the Sheriff cannot BLOCK your permit. He can only recommend or not recommend it. SLED actually issues your permit and MUST issue you the permit if you are qualified.
