Concealment

What do you think it means what I'm saying is like OK I have a shoulder holster it is under my shirt/coat but you can tell something is there now would that be legal or illegal by the definition concealed?? :to_pick_ones_nose:

Here is Florida law

Section 790.06 (1), Florida Statutes, defines concealed weapons or firearms as those carried in a manner that conceals them from the ordinary sight of another person. This includes:

handguns
electronic weapons or devices
tear gas guns
knives
billies

In states that strictly prohibit open carry such as Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, etc... concealed means concealed. If there is any doubt, get a smaller gun and/or find a different means of concealing your firearm. You don't want to be "made" because your arm swings awkwardly or further away from your body than your other arm.

Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer:biggrin:

your lack of punctuation confuses me more than the definition of concealed, but I think I know where you're coming from, so let me take a stab at it:

If you are carrying your pistolero in a shoulder holster under a jacket or shirt, you are carrying it in a manner that conceals it from the ordinary sight of another person. Yes, they may see a bulge, but who's to say what that bulge is? Now, a shoulder holstered firearm outside your shirt would be in ordinary sight, as are most hip holsters. Of course, if you are wearing a longer jacket that may hide your hip holster, that too could be considered concealed.

Err on the side of caution, if you plan to err at all. I wouldn't want to see someone go to the hoose gow claiming ignorance, especially when you have actually read the statute. They figure if you can read it, you can understand it.

I'm not asking about me it is a general question/statement
I have a both holsters and I have large and small guns this is more of a general question asking other opinions
this is what Florida laws says. so that says to me as long as it is not out in the open it is good. IMO

Yes that is exactly what I mean I would think that by definition it is Legally concealed

If it is not in the sight of others it is concelled.(technicallly) If you can't see the gun you are good. I personally try to conceal in a way that there is nothing left to question. The whole idea is to conceal so that nobody can tell you are carrying. I don't want people looking at me and saying "is that a gun under there" ? But as long as it is not in plain view then by law you should be good.

Just my opinion..

I totally agree with you I do not want others knowing if I'm carrying or not I was just commenting/asking to see if what my interpretation of what I thought concealed is. So to put it in a nut shell is they can not see it it is concealed.

I normally use a belt holster with a xxx large shirt and there is no way to know if I'm armed

I think it is more comfortable to wear my new shoulder holster but at times my shirt looks kind of lumpy.

I always wear a xxx that is 2 times bigger then what I wear but you can not see a gun or a imprint of a gun.

Concealed carry "Cover Up"

I'm a heavy set guy (260 5'9") so small of the back is out. Too much of a bulge.

I have two IWB holsters for my .40 Cal's Glock 27 and H&K USP Compact SA's.

Galco Walkabout and Ace Holster Tuckable (deep pocket). I use a velcro util belt to hold those inside my shorts.

I also have a Safariland Model 1090 Gun Quick Shoulder Holster that is adjustable to either weapon. Has an adt'l mag pouch on opposite side but it's bulky. Has to belt retaining clips to anchor the holster and pouch.

I usually wear a Columbia 2X vented shirt open over a T-Shirt with these models or sometimes a 2X or XXX T shirt over my shorts. I make sure the shirt is stretched out so the bulge is minimized

I've practiced alot with all types of carry and can get the weapon out and on target in a little under a second and hit what I'm aiming at.

Make sure any solution you choose is practiced otherwise the weapon is just as useless as it would be unloaded.

Im the same height/weight, and have no problem with the small of my back with a small .38 snubbie. even wearing a norma shirt , unless I bend at the waist you cant tell, and if I need something low down on a shelf I just crouch instead of bend.

In todays society people are carrying more things than ever before. if you do have a bulge most people will brush it off as a cell phone, pda, mp3 player, etc. As a concealed carrier you know what it is, but most people want even think "GUN".

I've posted this in other forums... And I've actually done it...

Take the "Tape Measure Test":

- Get a 25' steel tape measure, about 3"X3"X 1" thick.
- Attach it to your belt, at the "4-o'clock" position
- Drape a fitted, relatively tight shirt over it, long enough to cover the tape +1-2"
- Walk around in public for HOURS.... Walmart, the grocery store, through the park...

Nobody will even NOTICE the fact that you have something under your shirt.
Nobody will run screaming.
Nobody will call the cops.
Nobody will care.

The VAST majority of Americans walk around life in a permanent fog... Col Jeff Cooper would call it "Condition White"... Oblivious. Those who notice a "bulge" will have "GUN!" as the last thing on their mind. The only people who will think it's a gun, are those who carry themselves. Most people have NO concept that a very significant number of people carry concealed every day. Most people have no idea who the Vice President of the US is! Most people have no idea what the 2nd Amendment is, let alone WHAT an Amendment is...

Try the "test". It will shock you. Then... you'll never worry about "printing" again.

"Concealed" is as defined, out of common sight. A bulge is not a gun. Quit worrying about it.

Thats exactly right! I can almost always tell when someone has gone heavy, not so much because I am looking but since I am always "heavy" I keep my situational awareness high.
Sometimes it is a bulge, others its a mannerism or twitch.
People who carry IWB or paddle holsters tend to check & make sure their pistol is secure by pressing against it with their forearm. They do it without even thinking about it, watch & you will see.
People that carry shoulder holsters tend to press their arm against the pistol & into their chest and/or roll their shoulders.
People with ankle holsters tend to "bump" one leg into the other to reassure themselves that its still there.

Watch some people who you know are carrying & you will start to notice the signs...
