Concealing a knife and going into a bar....

A few years ago I was frisked before going into a bar by the bouncers.
They found my knife that I had been carrying for over 5 years (I rather liked that knife) and they confiscated it and said they would turn it into the police, I couldn't have it back to go put in the car, and it was illegal to carry a knife into a drinking establishment.
Now I'm reading that it's not illegal to have a knife in a bar, which means that they stole my favorite pocket knife!
Anyone know for sure?

Depends on where you are at. Personally, I wouldn't go into any bar that required a frisk and I certainly wouldn't let some bouncer with zero police authority confiscate my personal possesions

Unless the bouncer was an off duty cop I'm pretty sure he could not do that. I've been a bouncer and where I could frisk someone in the bars where I worked we could not take items from them just refuse to let them enter the bar.
