i have 2 questions
1....what are the requirements a us military personel to get a concealed permit?
2....what are the requirements for a us military spouse to get a concealed permit?


the reason i am asking is that i hate to get a permit in one state get stationed somewhere else and have to do it all over again any help would be greatfull
 
I may be entirely wrong where active duty military personnel are involved, but I would guess that you would get a permit in the state in which you live and could carry in any state with reciprocity. Or you could get a permit in a state that allows non resident permits, such as Florida and again you could carry in any state that reciprocated with Florida.
 
That's right, Rabbitcreekok. In fact, Active Duty folks effectively have MUCH LESS rights to carry or even own a weapon for their/their family's protection because it is illegal to carry on a Military Installation, no matter who you are. Military Members who live in on-post housing are screwed and cannot protect themselves because they can't keep a weapon in their home/barracks room. It's illegal, not to mention against Military regulations/SOPs. *Think it's safer on a Military Installation? The crime rate on a military installation vs. off Post is the same. No one can carry on a Military Installation.
 
Military and CCH/CCW/CCL

I can't speak to every state. But if you live in Kansas your CCH must be from Kansas to be valid. I imagine that would be true in most if not all states. Kansas does have a provision that Military stationed in Kansas do not have to have a KS DL to apply for a CCH, but to carry and live here, you must have the Kansas CCH. Some states are making it easier to get their license when you move from a state where you had a license. Or so I read on their web sites...
 
Sorry djblack, the rules for you and your spouse are the same for the rest of us loosers. Some states may cut you a break on getting the permit, but I would not count on it. When you PCS somewhere else, you guessed it. At lest during my tenure it was like that. Ive only been out 3.5 years, so it could have changed. Doubt it.

Yep. ^^^^^^ That's it. Some states will waive a training requirement. Some states will lower the age limit to 18 for military personnel. Georgia waives the actual REQUIREMENT for a Georgia Firearms License (or whatever they changed it to) for active duty military members (in other words, no permit required for active duty in GA to carry concealed or openly.) But it's entirely up to state law and being active duty military makes very little difference.

The big difference for active duty military members is that they can buy handguns from FFLs in states they are permanently ordered to using their military orders and active duty military ID card, without having to obtain an in-state ID or DL.

Military spouses are the same as any other joe schmoe regarding firearms purchases and CWPs.
 
Sorry to burst your bubble... While you are correct that you can't carry on ANY military installation... We are allowed to have guns in our homes on some bases. It all depends on the post commander, wing commander, etc. If we want to leave post with our weapons. They must be unloaded with the ammunition seperate from the firearm. Once we exit the gates, we can then load up and carry. Makes it a pain for those of us who carry a firearm for duty, but rules are rules.

Does one of the branches have bases that do not allow it? It is allowed on every Marine Corps base that I have been on over the last 16 years.
