Concealed for females?

I'm sure this subject has been beat to death, and I did a search but didn't come up with much.

The Facts
My fiancee recently took a CCW course, and passed/is authorized up to .45ACP in semi-auto. She cannot carry a revolver (didn't qualify with it, and hates revolvers) so any semi-auto up to .45ACP

She took the course with her employer, his wife, and another co-worker. IE: Her employer is more than OK with her carrying at work.

She's partial to Glocks, but probably only because I'm partial to glocks and I taught her to shoot.. She qualified with a Kimber 1911 .45 and loved it but reliability issues is preventing her from wanting one (I sold mine because of reliability, and the one she was shooting jammed twice in 25 rounds)

She likes my Glock 26 but its a bit bulky for her to carry (other than on an ankle rig).

The Problem

She dresses in business casual, usually with slacks, and a nice somewhat tight fitting shirt.

Any reccomendations on how she might be able to carry other than in an ankle rig, buying another gun/cost of another gun isn't a consideration, just that she be able to consistiently, carry.

I know she needs to handle the firearm prior to purchase, just looking for some ideas so we don't have to spend 8 hours at a gun store handling every single weapon.

Business casual..I will wear a coat or a vest with it for sure. You can really get away with that OWB...or else she will have to use IWB during summer. I use the high noon holster called Split Decision. It is located here: High Noon Holsters look for Split Decision and you will see what I mean. It is tuckable. Only the metal for the belt will show not the gun itself.

Since the dress is business casual might she consider an ankle holster or IWB when she wears slacks?

Next thought, if her employer is good with it, how about oc?

I don't know what guns you currently own, but if you have a small flat semi auto like a Kel-tec or Ruger LCP she might be able to pocket carry. Other than that maybe a thunderwear holster, or carry in her pocketbook(made for carrying a gun).

Although I don't like off the body carry, her choices may be limited by her wardrobe.

Spend the time handling guns. Seriously, how likely is it that I could suggest a handgun that would actually feel "right" to her hands? Over the years, I've taught many ladies to shoot, but I'd be skeptical of my chances for success, in suggesting a "feel right" handgun for them. I'd have just as good a chance of suggesting what shoes she should wear.

Get her to handle as many handguns as she can, and the let her decide.

My wife is no longer office material, after she was layed off and I retired. She does a little sitting with old folks every week for a day or two for some extra change. She's lucky to be able to wear anything, so usually has no problem hiding her CC pistol. However, on nights out, or in certain areas when she has to go into town, if she's dressed in a manner that doesn't conceal well, she carries a "Hidden Agenda" by Galco. It's a holster that looks like a Day Planner. She would prefer to carry on her person, but sometmes you have to make do. We also fixed up a IWB holster that clips into her purse and holds the gun upright for draw. At night when walking across a parking lot, she will have her purse on her shoulder with her hand on the gun. Sometimes you have to make do, when your clothing and business dictates the situation.

My wife carries in a fanny pack. She wears one even when she doesn't carry, so it is a natural thing for her to do. What can I say, she's a geek girl.

Anyway, if she likes the 1911, have a look at the Wesson CBOB. They might be hard to find right now, but it is a great choice for a carry gun. Any other 1911 (except for a full custom) will probably need work to be as reliable as you would like. Some have had problems with Kimbers, many have not.

Good Luck!!

I think Headbanger is saying that his wife has her choice of wearing whatever she wants to, not that she doesn't wear clothes. :sarcastic: I had to read it a few times to figure out what he meant.

Thanks for all the input. She doesn't want to have off-person carry such as in a purse or day planner. She's open to the ankle holster but knows its a slow draw.

OOOOPPPS!!! My choice of wording was, let's say...... goofy!!! I meant she's fortunate, that she can wear anything she wants to work. Therefore, she can carry concealed anyway she wants to. Sorry for the confusion, but it was kinda funny. I'm gonna go in the living room right now and see if she can conceal a firearm naked!!! :sarcastic::fie::laugh::biggrin::no:

It's always cheaper to redo a wardrobe than buy a new gun. Vests are an option, and they don't have to be CCW vests. Any fashionable vest will do, if it's long enough.

There are also lots of jackets and blazers available which would still fit within the definition of business casual for women without attracting unwanted attention. "Why is Sue Ellen dressing up? Is she trying to sleep her way to the top?"
