Concealed Carry in Casinos?

I have a Louisiana CWP. I visit Louisiana Casinos on a regular basis as well as the Mississippi Gulf Coast casinos.

Is concealed carry legal in Louisiana and Mississippi Casinos?

I live in Louisiana and have a la license. It is illegal to carry in a Casino. There are typically signs on the doors also. Not sure about mississippi but in each case Id look into actual law before I take word of another individual on this site or any other.

The only relevant part of the MS statue reads:
any portion of an establishment, licensed to dispense alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises, that is primarily devoted to dispensing alcoholic beverages; any portion of an establishment in which beer or light wine is consumed on the premises, that is primarily devoted to such purpose;
As the primary business of a casino is to extract your money from you, the consensus is that CC is legal if the casino has no signage, which most here do. I wouldn't go to the bar area though.

This does not include casinos on Indian Reservation property, where carry is illegal.

MS State gaming laws also do not prohibit CC by customers, though all employees are prevented from bringing firearms on the premises, including in their vehicle. Haven't been to a casino in quite a while, but supposedly now the security guards are not armed.

Trespassing laws still apply though, and if you are asked to leave for any reason you must do so. It is illegal to carry a firearm in MS if you are consuming alcohol.

Surfed around a bit, seems that all Tunica casinos have signage, and the Gulf Coast ones did pre-Katrina, but not today.

MS law allows you to keep a concealed weapon in your vehicle, so if you decide not to CC inside and hit the big one, you can ask for an escort to your vehicle.

Did not read LA statutes but seems that LA CC laws read just like MS laws, and pretty much everything above also applies to LA, including Indian casinos.

Supposedly CC is now legal in Las Vegas....I've never been so have no idea.

In Nevada, very few casinos are posted, so carry is OK. If thy "make" you they will ask you to leave (they can ask you to leave for any or no reason).

I know of no Indian casinos where you can carry without permission from the Indian Councel (and they don't give permission). Same with Indian liquor and smoke shops.

I believe federal law prohibits carrying a firearm into any casino, in any state

I am with wes. As far as I know, it's illegal in any casino

Nope. Depends on state law. In Washington, firearms are legal in Casinos, open carried or concealed. Tribal lands, in Washington state, are nothing more really than private property. If you don't obey the tribal rules, on tribal lands, as a non-indian, the most they can do is remove you from the reservation under threat of trespassing, otherwise standard state laws apply to non-indians on the reservations and there is no state (or Federal) law against carrying in casinos, again...in Washington.

Definitely not Federal Law. Don't know about other parts of the country, but it is perfectly legal in Nevada (non-Tribal lands). If casinos find out, they will ask you to leave. If you don't leave, you can be charged with trespassing. That is it in Nevada.

Even if casinos are posted, the signs are pretty much worthless. No casino has metal detectors at the entrances, and the casinos are not mentioned anywhere in the NRS. If you are caught, the casino can ask you to leave. If you don't leave, the casino can ask the police to cite you for trespassing.

That is for non-Indian casinos. Tribal land is a whole different story from the rest of the state.

Was on the Mississippi Gulf Coast this past weekend. I visited most of the casinos in Biloxi and Gulfport. I didn't see a single 'NO WEAPONS ' sign on the casino doors.....

seems to me a place where i would want to carry esp if i won
my ex mother in law used to play bingo down in miami skylark casino she won a pretty nice amount don't remember how much but it was hundreds and she was robbed going to her car
so those kind of gun laws only allow criminals to have a better chance at robbing someone imo

Legal guns are not allowed in Michigan casinos except for on-duty LEOs. I don't know what their stance on illegal guns is.

Howdy,

I go to the Tunica, MS casinos 3 or 4 times a year, usually for 2-4 nights and ALL that I've been to are posted "No CCW/Guns".

I usually go to Harrah's but I've been to Hollywood, Sam's Town, Balley's, and a couple of others. Not sure about the Isle of Capri.

This is how Ohio addresses the issue:

Lawriter - OAC - 3772-20-01 Security department.
(D) Except for the following persons, no casino operator licensee or applicant shall permit firearms at a casino facility, as defined in division (C) of section 3772.01 of the Revised Code:

(1) Commission gaming agents;

(2) Law enforcement officers, as defined in sections 9.88, 109.71 and 2901.01 of the Revised Code, who are on duty and within their jurisdiction;

(3) Law enforcement officers who are hired by a casino operator licensee or applicant for special duty as long as the officers are not specifically involved in gaming related regulatory functions; and

(4) Security guard providers, as defined by section 4749.01 of the Revised Code, who:

(a) Are not employed by the casino operator licensee or applicant;

(b) Are licensed under section 4749.03 of the Revised Code;

(c) Meet the requirements in section 4749.10 of the Revised Code; and
(d) Work for and are on duty with an armored motor vehicle security service licensed under section 4749.03 of the Revised Code.
and
(10) Establish and maintain procedures for handling the following at a casino facility:

Basically, it's a no.

A casino is listed in Michigan law as one of the nine "Pistol Free Zones", or Criminal Empowerment Zones. A casino doesn't need "No Guns" signs for it to be prohibited.

Read your particular state laws for what's legal/illegal in your area. Please don't get your information from a forum on the internet, the information you'll receive here WILL NOT stand up in a court of law.

The best approach is to play online richprize.com/games/booongo. You can play when you want and from where you want. Online format offers much less restrictions than traditional casino houses. The only thing I miss while playing on the Internet is the atmosphere of the real casino. Online gaming is less elegant but still very exciting. And the game selection is huge.

And now to bring this thread up to 2021: CCW is not allowed inside of any casino, anywhere, in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
