Concealed carry for skinny people

Hey all,

I am a new concealed carrier and new to the site. I have a question for some of you who are more experienced in the art of concealing firearms than me. Being that I am about 6'0 and only 140 pounds, I am having a tough time concealing without feeling conscious of printing. I am using a galco kingtuk and carrying a glock 19. Are there any bean poles out there who have discovered better ways to conceal a firearm on a small frame? Thanks!

I'm 6'3" 160lbs and don't really have an issue carrying a CZ P-01 inside the waistband at the 4:00-4:30 position. Having a good cant on the holster will allow the grip to ride up to the small of your back more and help prevent printing. Only other advice is to make sure you don't shop at big and tall stores or others that cater to tall/slim as the way they cut their shirts for our mid sections easily allow printing.

Layers. The easiest way for me to conceal is an unbuttoned shirt (or mostly unbuttoned) over a light tank top, or something like that. Just have to be careful on windy days with the outer layer! I'm 5'9" and 120 lbs, and can conceal a Chiappa Rhino that way (nice "flat" revolver, but still a bit bulky for my size). Girls have a few more options in the layering department, but guys can do it easily that way too.

I think people worry way to much about printing. If your firearm is covered 99% of the public will not have a clue and those that do are probably carrying too.

I have the same problem for the opposite reason. I'm a little on the heavy side and my mid-section flab tends to push my pistol out into my clothing. I'm trying for a better solution too... aside from the gym, which I go to regularly

I am 6' and weigh about 235. I have a slightly larger stomach than some, but I carry at the 2 O'clock position with a large shirt, and no one ever knows. I just leave the shirt tail out, and they are long western shirts. Works good for me, and I carry my 1911 commander model there also with no problems. I carry OWB using a Taugus holster and a 2 mag holster at the 8 O'clock position.

I adjusted the cant on my holster and it helped. I've still got the handle poking out of the back of my shirt if I bend over, but that was a helpful tip. Thank you.

i wouldn't worry about it that much like steve2511 said most people want know what it is unless they carry too it bugs you because you know its there but truth is most people don't even take a second look to see what it is

I too have the opposite issue, as I am 5'1" and around 300lbs. In my CCW class our instructors recommended the Black Hawk Universal Holster, I have to admit I can carry my Ruger SR-9C very comfortably with this holster, even driving for an extended distance. I use the shirt over shirt method for concealing have several button up shirts now that I can wear over my holster+pistol. It works well except for on those windy days.

I have considered one of the IWB holsters and scaling down my carry weapon, but haven't gone that direction yet.

I have only been carrying about year now.

At 6'3", 200 lbs. I'm not exactly skinny, but don't carry much weight below my waist. I find IWB at 4-4:30 is comfortable unless I'm sitting and conceals well, particularly with heavier material (heavy weave golf shirt works better than a T) that doesn't drape as tightly over any objects that might protrude a little. Carrying at 2 works really good as long as the barrel is really short. I'm low waisted and long barrels tend to jab. Summertime, I stick mostly to a pocket pistol for comfort.

I'm 5'5" about a buck thirty so I'm small and small framed. I carry a SCCY 9mm or a Bodyguard 380 and I have a few different IWB holsters that I wear at about 4:30. For the SCCY I have an Ace Case IWB Tuckable and for the BG 380 I have a Desantis Pocket Tuk and also a Blackhawk size 1. The Blackhawk is really small and super light - I wear it with anything, even gym shorts with elastic waistbands.

Learn to not bend over at the waist. Do like the Playboy Bunnies used to do and kneel down, it doesn't pull the shirt against your gun. I attended an outdoor function with 20-25 sheriff department and deputies last Friday. Only a grey tee shirt over a XD 40 and CBST. No one said a thing.

Like what was said earlier, unless law is against printing or you just don't like it, most won't notice. Especially in this huge cell phone age, people are use to seeing bulges around the waistband. I have a few shirts that fit loose for when I want to make sure I don't print at all, other times I'm fairly sure I print atleast a little bit. No one ever says anything. My dad has even gone all day not noticing I'm carrying when I know I was printing. I suppose he just thought it was my phone or just didn't pay it any attention.

No holster is going to make the gun magically dissolve into your small frame, wear bigger looser shirts if your worried but above all get a holster that's comfortable for you. Does no good well hidden if its uncomfortable, you'll find yourself neglecting to carry to avoid the discomfort.

Unless your a Celebrity I'm sorry to say, People are just not looking that closely at you. A Bit of Printing is not a terrible thing and not illegal.
Don't ever think your weapon must be 100% invisible to be a concealed carry. Don't get me wrong, the less detectable the better, but don't sweat it.

I have never been comfortable with IWB, so I switched to ankle holsters, Since I wear boot cut jeans, they are perfect.
