concealed carry at work

If there's no law against it and no set company policy, carry. I see no reason to ask for permission at your place of business.

My employer allows it but has made it clear that if my (or any other employee's) pistol ever comes out we'd better have a really good reason or we might find ourselves unemployed.

should one ever put that they have a ccw permit on an application, im looking into a job in loss prevention and was wondering this......

Isn't the first word of CCW "Concealed"? I'm fascinated with the fascination that some people have of disclosing their "concealed" status. Not saying you, aj...just some people.

yes yes it is, im not looking to make it known to the world or everyone working there, but dont want to run the risk of having anything come up if its discovered later. i dont tell many people i have my ccw, and noone knows when im carrying said gun either. only people who know "well besides everyone on this form" id say about 5 people know i have my ccw.

i dont think my employer would ever come out and say its ok to carry.knowing how he thinks he would assume that if he approved then if there was a incident that he might also open himself up to lawsuits.however,a few interactions with the owner leads me to believe that it would be ok.he has his ccw and so does many of the contractors we deal with.one day at the office i sit down with him and on the chair right next to me is his handgun.he says it goes underneath his pillow when he works late at office and crashes on couch.on another day he says he is going to meet me at a job(i am service electrician)in a bad part of town.i saw"why you meeting me?"he says "i am going to cover you?"he knows i have my ccw and have on more than one occasion hinted that i can cover myself basically saying that i may have mine at any time.he always gives a approval type of chuckle/comment.so i feel i would never get repremanded if he ever noticed me actually doing it.i am going to subscribe to the "dont ask'dont tell" but would never deny it.

where I work, there is a sign that is the circle with line through it over a gun, and says No Guns Allowed. In Tx, that is not sufficient to prevent a CHL holder from carrying in the building. BUT, the employer has the right to prohibit it to employees, so I looked into company policy and it speaks to the "unlawful carrying of a weapon", which does not include a CHL carrier (at least in my opinion). I take that all to mean I can conceal carry.

guys i hate the trolling around here as much as y'all do, just looking for an answer cause thats what use to happen on this form, ask a question get an answer, now its troll this troll that and is becoming a habit of several peole on here. never applyed for a job while having my ccw and seeing as its a "security" job, was just wondering if i should put down that ive had my ccw for over a year or if i should not.?.?.?
When I applied to security jobs in the past, I always listed my permits on the app. when it asked for qualificaions, even if it was an unarmed job. I was asked about it once or twice during interviews, and it was never veiwed as a bad thing. One place liked the permits in diffrent states because it would make me more versatile in the positions.

There is a line in a movie that goes something like this "there's two kinds of stupid. The guy that gets naked and runs screaming through the woods, and the guy that does it in my front yard. One I have to do something about".

Don't ask don't tell. Do a superior job of concealing. Your boss may not care if you carry but if you force him into acknowledging that you carry he might feel that he is accepting a liability that he does not want. Right now he has plausible deniability. If it ever comes out you may have to leave the gun in the car. The first time you are caught the old "but it isn't in the handbook" routine might work. Don't discuss it with other employees. They will then tell someone else and so on until you get called on the carpet. This is not a topic of discussion with anyone you work with and darn few that you don't. If your buddy brings it up again tell him you worried about getting caught too much.

I'm tending to be a little troll leery these days as well...A lot of suspicious questions from people with very few posts....

But to answer one question, I would not put it on an application for a non-security job, but it makes sense of a security job and I don't think there is anyway it should show up on a back ground check, why would it?

The point of a CCW is that it is CONCEALED. I carry a lot of places everyday and it never becomes an issue. Somebody got nosy one time about something under my hoodie and asked if I was carrying a gun. I looked up and down and said "nope" and walked away. As far as carrying at work, if it is a large company there is probably a ban of some sort about weapons of any kind in employee behavior. If your company truly does not have a no weapons policy then for the love of God keep your mouth shut about it. Please don't be that guy, the one that brings up some point about a policy that doesn't exist just to clarify that it doesn't exist and speaks it into existence. If it ain't broke DON'T FIX IT.
