Guys I'm sure this have been discussed before but I couldn't find a thread on it... My employer does not have any signs posted or anything listed in our employee handbook about concealed carry at work. I am on the fence about approaching them before it becomes an issue. There is already another co worker who carries everyday and has never brought it up he just lays low. What are some of your opinions or experiences?

If there is 'another co-worker' who 'carries everyday' but he has 'never brought it up' because he 'lays low' then why & how would YOU even know about it?
Would he even want to trust an 'acquaintance at work' with information that could get him terminated??

I depends on where you live. In some (thankfully very few) states, it is assume that concealed carry is prohibited on private business property unless explicitly granted by the employer. In others, it is allowed unless explicitly barred by the property owner. In some states, that prohibition must be in the form of a specific sign, mounted in a specific way.
Research your state's (and locale's) laws on the matter.
I am of the opinion that if my employee guide doesn't mention firearms, I'm not going to bring it up. My state is a "allowed unless explicitly barred" state - and my employer doesn't mention it anywhere. So I carry. If my employer ever adds such a clause, I would stop carrying, but I would make sure to express my displeasure, and bring it up with the CEO personally, before giving up.

I would carry, conseal it well (pocket gun?) and not ask anyone. Asking is more likely to get the standard lawyer reply of "NO!", and get a policy added to the handbook, as well as put you on HR's radar. This other guy does, and you know (did he tell you because your also a gun guy?) but no one else might. Dpnt bust him in the process by asking. Its apparently not against the rules so unless its a prohibited place by law...personally, Id just do it. Remember-no one ever got in trouble by keeping his mouth shut.(I am not a lawyer)

I work for a firearms dealer, and manned the shop for many months with my concealed carry weapon. There were many times I said, today is the day I need to communicate to my employers about this. I never did, and I think it was for the best.
I know that personally the owner would have been behind my choice, but most insurance companies frown upon the practice, or will charge extra premiums if they know employees are carrying. This will translate to a big "no" from the owner.
So they didn't ask, I didn't tell, and it was never an issue.

should one ever put that they have a ccw permit on an application, im looking into a job in loss prevention and was wondering this......
Just my thought. It really depends on state laws, where you work and if it's worth losing your job if you were discovered or if you had to use your pistol.
I would ask just to respect your place of work or have an "outside of work" conversation. It would be good to know if they where behind you or not.
But if you don't mind running the risk of getting let go, go for it.

It would help depending on the job requirement. I think the ccw permit would help you, it just means that the state thinks you're responsible enough and that is part of what hiring managers are looking for in an employee.

im looking at it from the states point of view, if im qualified to carry a ccw "working not working ect" would that help a person whos looking at my application as wow if the state can grant him that he would be a great person to have on our staff cause hes got nothing on his record of concern and has no issue with drugs or crime ect.... i would think it would, adn i live in texas guns are everywhere and most people carry them in their cars and ect..

I sure hope you are not HR trolling for ideas where to look to get someone fired. If you are just some ordinary middle class worker looking for opinions and decide to carry to work never leave it unattended where a co-worker could uncover it while searching for something else. The best option would be a subcompact in a tuckable IWB holster.

im just a guy who in this economy is applying for jobs, just want to work, but i dont want to put it down if the job will then vanish all beacuse of my ccw. im NOT A FREAKIN TROLL, and i wonder why anyone on here would think so, i have over 300 posts on here and all of a sudden im a troll. im just looking for answers from you guys cause i figure it cant hurt to know if its the right thing to do or not with the application.

guys i hate the trolling around here as much as y'all do, just looking for an answer cause thats what use to happen on this form, ask a question get an answer, now its troll this troll that and is becoming a habit of several people on here. never applyed for a job while having my ccw and seeing as its a "security" job, was just wondering if i should put down that ive had my ccw for over a year or if i should not.?.?.?
