I will be visiting the iowa University hospital and was wondering is this a "No Weapons zone" Not sure if collages are cosidered off limits like schools.

thanks in advance.

Most colleges/universities are gun-free zones... does this hospital reside on a college campus? If so, then I would bet you can't carry there legally. I searched their website for 'firearms' and 'weapons' and didn't find any posted policy on it.

After more searching l found that the hospital has a no weapons policy . The hospital is not on campus.

Thanks
The University of Iowa hospital is an academic/teaching facility "owned" by the university. Even though geographicaly remote from other parts of the campus, it is part of the campus the same as the football field which is directly across the street from it.

It is also the main treatment facility for criminals that are incarcerated in the Iowa penal system. This is part of their no weapons reasoning. So not only are you risking the acquisition of disease and infection by being there, you are also unable to defend yourself in a population that contains a statistically significant criminal element.
