Concealed Carry Acronyms

Hi there! This is my first post on this board. I monitor a few other CC boards too.

Whe I started monitoring (lurking) CC boards I was immediately overwhelmed with the plethora of acronyms used in this arena, such as EDC, BUG, BTF, etc. Here in Michigan our permit to carry a concealed weapon is CPL, for Concealed Pistol License. I presume it is valid for revolvers also. :haha: Yes, I am a joker. However I see posts from people in other states have a different description of their license. It gets me to wondering how many different descriptions there are. Here is a list of the ones I have encountered.

CCW Concealed Carry Weapon?
CCP Concealed Carry Pistol
CPL Concealed Pistol License
CHP Concealed Handgun Permit?
CHL Concealed Handgun License?
LTC License To Carry?
LTCF License to Carry Firearm?

What other names have the individual states given their certificates of blessing? I surely expect to also receive the contributions from the other jokers too, like IHAG (I Have A Gun). NWTBAV (Not Willing To Be A Victim) Hello, and let's hear what you have.

A carry permit in NC is a CHP. It is spelled out on the permit "Concealed Handgun Permit" and it permits only handguns to be carried concealed, thus the name.

Down in South Carolina, the state refers to it as CWP. CONCEALED WEAPONS PERMIT. Out in the counties it’s known as:

PR for packing Roscoe.
MLF for my little friend.
MH for my heater.
LS for little snobby.
TE for the Equalizer.

CWP - concealed weapons permit.
I've also heard John from the Active Self Protection Youtube channel use the acronym "FIBS" (Fudge I've been shot) which I really like.

I further shorten EDCG to just EDC... Every Day Carry
IWB means 'Inside of Waist Band'
OWB means 'Outside of Waist Band' which still can be concealed by a outer garment, sometimes referred to as 'OC' or Open Carry if not 'concealed'
AIWB means 'Appendix, Inside of Waist Band'
I guess you could call "Pocket Carry" 'PC' but I don't think in the concealed carry world that is 'politically correct'. Just call it 'Pocket Carry' all spelled out.

Oklahoma originally called theirs a CCL (concealed carry license) but when they passed open carry they changed it to a HGL (handgun license). It is also often referred to as a SDA (self defense act) permit.
