So I have been wondering this for quite some time. Is it illegal for me to conceal carry a firearm on my own personal private property?

the laws in whatever locality that your property in located in will be the factor in the correct answer to your question.
FWIW in FLA you can carry any way you damned please to on your property

I am pretty sure you can carry a weapon anyway you like on your own private property. As with all laws it is probably determined by the individual state you are located in. In New Mexico I can find no stipulation saying that a CC firearm cannot be carried on Private Property. I can only find where it states that an owner of Property can prohibit you from carrying concealed on their property. That is why, in New Mexico, you cannot carry a CC firearm into stored that have signs that state no CC firearms.

Question: Can an owner of private property prohibit me from carrying my concealed handgun on his premise?

Answer: Yes. Pursuant to Subsection C of NMSA 1978 Section 29-19-12, any person lawfully in possession of private property may prohibit the carrying of concealed handguns on such private property by posting notice in accordance with NMSA 1978 Section 30-14-6 or by verbally notifying persons entering upon the property.

Then again, New Mexico lets ANY individual carry a concealed firearm on their person while in their vehicle.

Question: Do I have to be licensed to have a concealed loaded handgun inside my vehicle?

Answer: No. New Mexico law allows a person who is not otherwise prohibited to have a concealed loaded firearm in his/her vehicle (including motorcycles and bicycles). See 30-7-2 NMSA 1978. If you are not licensed to carry concealed in this State or in a state that NM recognizes, you may not have the weapon concealed on your person when you exit your vehicle or motorcycle.

Yes! As long as you are on privately owned property, you can O.C. or C.C.....The law (in S.C.) states as long as you are mot visible from a public street or road, it's your property and you can O.C. or C.C. all day long....

The correct answer to the OP's question, according to North Carolina statute is NO. Read the question that the OP asked:
"
Is it illegal for me to conceal carry a firearm on my own personal private property?" The correct answer, is NO, it is NOT illegal.

No. Here's the statute below. Carrying on the person's own premises is specifically exempted from the prohibition. Did you even read the question or the law before you answered?

North Carolina Statute:

SUBCHAPTER IX. OFFENSES AGAINST THE PUBLIC PEACE.
Article 35.
Offenses Against the Public Peace.

§ 14-269. Carrying concealed weapons.
(a) It shall be unlawful for any person willfully and intentionally to carry concealed about his person any bowie knife, dirk, dagger, slung shot, loaded cane, metallic knuckles, razor, shurikin, stun gun, or other deadly weapon of like kind, except when the person is on the person's own premises.
(a1) It shall be unlawful for any person willfully and intentionally to carry concealed about his person any pistol or gun except in the following circumstances:
(1) The person is on the person's own premises.
(2) The deadly weapon is a handgun, the person has a concealed handgun permit issued in accordance with Article 54B of this Chapter or considered valid under G.S. 14-415.24, and the person is carrying the concealed handgun in accordance with the scope of the concealed handgun permit as set out in G.S. 14-415.11(c).
(3) The deadly weapon is a handgun and the person is a military permittee as defined under G.S. 14-415.10(2a) who provides to the law enforcement officer proof of deployment as required under G.S. 14-415.11(a).

It depends where you are and what laws govern the area. I know before IL was forced to change, that you could not even carry outside of your house in Chicago in any way. Please, next time you post, let the other forum members know where you are from. Chances are that someone can easily point you to a specific law that will answer your question rather than assuming what people respond is fact.

In PA where I'm from, we can open carry without a license so if you are there, I'd say yes *edited* you can carry that way, so no it is not illegal in PA *end editing*

I wasn't aware of that. Where does SC law state that you can't OC on your own property if visible from a public street or road?

Yes.

SECTION 16-23-20. Unlawful carrying of handgun; exceptions.
It is unlawful for anyone to carry about the person any handgun, whether concealed or not, except as follows, unless otherwise specifically prohibited by law:

(8) a person in his home or upon his real property or a person who has the permission of the owner or the person in legal possession or the person in legal control of the home or real property;

In Ohio it is perfectly legal to carry a concealed handgun without a CHL "in the actor's own home for any lawful purpose," though not outside the home, even on their own property. See Ohio Revised Code 2923.12:

OP was about conceal carrying OUTSIDE one's house; some replies were coming saying it is ok; THAT is why I stepped to the plate and stated OHIO does not allow conceal carry on one's own property - OUTSIDE their house.

I know of no state in the union where it is illegal to conceal carry INSIDE one's home, so I figured I didn't have to specify inside vs outside in my reply. Never thought someone would misinterpret THAT!
