as to which is better ? you should try them both out and decide which one you most comfortable with and which one fits your hand better
best wishes and welcome

Weigh the pros and cons of each。Try to shoot them if possible. Are you carrying or just comparng. No one can say whats right for you.We a have biased opinions.

Well the S&W is definitely less complex (less can go wrong) but you might find the 9mm more comfortable for concealed carry.

Thats a hard question to answer. Everyone handles & Shoots Weapons Differently.

As to choosing a particular Weapon both have Pros & Cons. Semi- Autos have more rounds availible, They are easier to reload, But have the potential of more Mechanical Mis-Functions.

Revovlers have less Ammo Capacity, Are harder to reload, But are less likely to have Mechanical Mis-Functions, And in the right hands are more Accurate, In My opionion !

Both are excellent Weapons, Both will Protect your Life. In the end it's not the choice of Semi, or Revolver. It's how well you handle each of those Weapons to best suit your Needs.

So as I said, It's an hard question to give you the answer your looking for. My suggestion to you is, Shoot, and practise with both. Find your groove. You, and only You will know which Weapon best fits your needs. Good Luck, and welcome to USACarry! Glad you have Joined us. There are allot of Good Poeple here, that have allot of Excellent advise.

Just think about it, Where else could you go to have this type of Experience, and Knowledge at your Finger Tips...

There right on here and honestly the both have advantages thats why I carry both for different situations. BUY BOTH. I carry the 38 in my pocket when light clothing and the nine when deep concealment is not necessary.

That's like asking which is better, vanilla or chocolate ice cream. Everyone will you give you their opinion, doggonit they are right!! LOL.

Here's the deal, the 9mm beretta is semi-auto, meaning there is more complicated mechanism than a revolver. 9mm has a bit more energy than a .38 but depending on the round they are somewhat comparable. (i'm generalizing here and this could be a forum for a debate on the effectiveness of each, but I'm not going there)
The revolver is simpler... I've known people that have shot them all their life and there is nothing that has gone wrong with them. They carry less ammo, but you can carry speed loaders.

The fact remains, shoot both... figure out the pros and cons of each ... figure out which one would be easier for you to conceal carry or open carry whatever your preference is.

The gun that is best is the one that you like and will practice with because you like it.

Good luck and welcome to the forums.

I would carry both of them. Sometimes one or the other sometimes together. Depends were you go and what you ware.

I like the 9mm better than a 38. But I would like to have both of them because thats the way I am. Get both, you know you want to!

The question is impossible to answer.

What application do you need a gun for? how familiar are you with both?

You might as well ask which is better a HMMWV or a Corvette?

If this is your first handgun, I would recommend against getting too small or light a gun in either auto or revolver. I light one will have greater 'felt' recoil and muzzle climb. I would not get a auto smaller than a Glock 19 -ish size auto, or a revolver smaller than a K-frame size (S&W) to begin with, as weapons in this size or larger will be easier to learn to shoot with and less punishing to your hands. I shoot a small 5 shot revolver, and it is not pleasant or easy to shoot (SW 638), but can be learned and is very concealable.
