It appears that a new company is set to begin selling fake guns/holsters to people who want to appear to be armed but don’t want to go through the actual hassle of owning and training with a firearm.

Because we all know that you just strap a firearm to your body and all trouble will magically leave you alone forever (please not heavy sarcasm in that sentence).

Here is the sales pitch from the company’s website:

PCD was founded in 2014 by a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served multiple combat tours to Iraq, and other places throughout the world. Based in Virginia Beach, VA, the sole purpose of these devices is to bridge the gap between hardcore everyday gun toting enthusiasts and those who are less willing to have a firearm in their home.

The mission of PCD is to change how society treats one another. Could things be more peaceful if everyone knew that you might be carrying a weapon? Perhaps. PCD seeks to explore a shift in change in the way we all treat one another.

- These devices are for those who wish to feel protected but do not want the hassle of owning an actual firearm
- PCD’s require no background check or permit since they are not actual firearms
- Store doesn’t have your favorite ammunition in stock?
- Want to wear in a parking lot and stow away in purse once you’ve reached your destination and not fear a discharge?
- Don’t want the fear of young children finding a loaded weapon by mistake?
- Give your unarmed security staff a more authoritative presence
- Shop owners concerned about robbery
- Know someone who could benefit from carrying a handgun, but aren’t safety conscious?
- Don’t want to be approached by a criminal element?
- As you can see, the uses and possibilities are endless.

Don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on something that may not be used? The all in one piece construction of these devices addresses all of these hurdles while still allowing for the benefits of open carry.

Personal Carry Decoys, or Personal Crime Deterrents are designed to provide a “strong” defensive posture to those who wear one and has the look of a live weapon. Remember, Perceived Carry is all about the perception that you are ready for business and let’s face it, perception is reality.

Be intimidating. Be protected.

People who are considering this (which I hope is pretty much no one), should be aware that analog weapons laws might apply to these things in many states.

These are both GREAT ideas! First for the cop in the elevator, second for the woman in Wal Mart.

So much for the CCW "badge" being the dumbest idea ever.

So, if you are stopped by a police officer, do you inform them immediately that you are carrying a fake gun? And then what is going to happen when they want you to give it to them/take it from you?

That just sounds like a death waiting to happen. The type of idiot who would carry this would be the same type of idiot who would try and argue with an officer trying to convince the officer the gun isn't real and they are not doing anything wrong. All the while waving the gun around (because he knows it's not real and he's not doing anything wrong) until the officer feels threatened and opens fire.

What is the owner of one of these supposed to do when they are carrying one and someone approaches them or tries to mug them? If they are willing to take you on while they think you are holding a gun then they will have a field day once they fins out it's not a real gun.

By law would these be required to have orange on the tip of the barrel or does that not apply since they are not toys?

Did anyone notice that on their website:

Their "Firearms Statistics" button takes you straight to a anti-gun website:

I think I will try that concept but with money...

Are you broke? .... Does a low paying job have you down? Well, today's your lucky day!!!! For only 19.99 you can buy a fake money roll. Yes, your friends will think your a big-time drug dealing gangsta. So don't delay buy today. And to protect that fake money roll you can now buy a fake gun. No background check required..

And for good measure, note that both product photos are actually from Fobus, with Walther handguns. One, a .22 at that.

I'm hoping a lawyer from Fobus gets them to pull the pictures.

Well, they would be waving the gun and the holster around because they are all one piece.

Police shoot people without guns. They shoot people holding things they thought were guns but turned out not to be guns. Some of these police shootings are justified and others are not. Are you willing to volunteer to go out and wave around a gun while it's still inside a holster, while not following police officers demands to find out if police will or will not shoot you because the gun in inside a holster? I'm willing to bet that more times than not a person waving a gun at people will get shot by police even if the gun was in a holster.

I have a niece who dated this kid a few years ago. He was for lack of a better description a complete moron. We had a family/friend gathering and a few of us were talking firearms. This kid comes up(I forget his name) and starts talking about his Beretta 92. He asked if we wanted to see it and we said sure. (He was 19 or 20 so curiosity was peaked) out he pulls in all its glory a Beretta 92 in 177 caliber. He said he was just carrying this until he got his permit. I'm not sure what ever happened to him but I would assume his kind would line up to buy these.

I was not questioning whether the police would shoot them or not. I have a pen made out of a rifle round in my front pocket, I'll probably get shot if I am ever frisked and police find it.

OR, if you're stopped by a BG should you inform him immediately it's a fake gun and just hope he doesn't shoot you? And then what's going to happen when they take it (and all of your other possessions)?
I agree, dumbest idea ever!

Yeah, immediately whip open your garment and put your hand on the (fake) gun and tell your attacker that you don't have a gun. That should have him urinating in his pants...especially if you have to draw it and it won't come-out of the fake holster.

Or will they shoot you because you tried to hand it over.
