cocked and locked

the real diehl

I been all over the web looking for a shoulder rig that can carry my 5" 1911 cocked and locked, preferabley
with a strap under the hammer, and a little tilt, because I'm a little guy.

It looks like the Miami Classic and others have gone to strap over, hammer down.
What's the point of carrying with an empty chamber?

Pop always said " cocked and locked was the safest way to carry."

I bought a Passport shoulder holster from the gun shop/range only because that was all they had in shoulder style. I CC a Spfd 1911A1 .45 MIL-SPEC. It works well except that the shoulder pads could be a bit thicker. They tend to start biting into your shoulders after a few hours. Here's a link if your care to review. My rig also has 2 x MAG pouch on opposite side.

To Mappow. You can take your rig to a quality saddle maker(ask around at Rodeo or other cowboy hang outs) and explain where the rig is bothering you and he'll fix you right up. Same to the original cocked and locked poster. Go to a saddlery that does Western (not English) saddles. You can also look into padding material that will hold up and also get ideas from the saddle maker. If my fat ass can ride long enough to give your average bear saddle sores then it will work for decades. Worst case scenario you can't find a good saddle maker try an old time shoe store (good luck, They're going the way of the Dodo) and see if the can sew some padding on for you. Look around at some of the holster suppliers and see what they use. Hope this helps.

There is no reason. Unless the person carrying with an empty chamber just wants to throw their gun at the bad guy

Or they could chamber a round and then shoot the gun....... having an empty chamber isn't welding the action shut.

I don't particularly care for how that plays out...
Left hand clears shirt, right hand grips and draws pistol, left hand racks slide. Hopefully a round chambers.

Too much hoping and too much going on for my simple mind to handle.
