Clips -- Metal or Plastic?

For IWB holsters, which is the better clip, plastic or metal?

Depends on quality of clips. Good plastic can rivial good metal in durability and weight while poor plastic can break and crack in sunlight. Good plastic less likly to scuff belt or rip pants. I know i didnt help at all. Lol. Sorry

I have the plastic ones on my Maxtuk. They are pretty thick. I don't think they will break. I happy with it.

Metal seems to be good but I am checking into the j clips. They seem a little better at concept as they barely show.

I prefer the metal clips. They will scratch the gunbelt slightly over time, but they're always in the same place so it's not noticeable.

99% of the time, I carry a horsehide White Hat. However, once in a while it needs a "drying out" day, and I have a "Cozy Partner" with leather loops. I've found that the loops allow the holster a bit more "freedom" than I really like during a draw...when compared to the metal. Of course, the Cozy Partner is all leather and the White Hat is leather/kydex...that may be the real difference.

Metal. They hold more paper without breaking. Plus you can straighten them out and use them for other stuff, like cleaning out the holes in your salt shaker.
.
Why are we discussing paperclips on a gun forum?

I have the velcro clips for my SuperTuck and absolutely LOVE them. Unless you blab and tell someone you are carrying, they cannot tell by looking for the clips. Probably won't use any other mechanism to secure my CC pistol.

CLIPS??????
Did you mean magazine?

He's talking about belt clips on holsters.

Either work as far as I'm concerned.

The "plastic" ones that come on most hybrid style holsters are really kydex I expect.
Depending on how your leather is cut and how you adjust your cant/ride height, the clip might extend past the leather so that it touches your skin. In that case, the plastic might be better. The metal ones are spring steel and have sharp edges.

No Stan he said clip and he meant clip. Read it again. He's asking about clips on the holster. You know if we have to keep explaining this stuff to you, it's gonna be a real long weekend! :sarcastic:

I have steel on my CrossBreed and have scratched the heck out of 2 belts already. If the clips were exposed I think they would do a number on the car seats too. I've been thinking about going over the the plastic ones.

All of my IWB holsters are by KHolster and use medal clips. I usually wear a Wilderness Tactical belt but have worn leather without scuffing the leather too bad.

Unless the plastic clips are brittle they should hold up. Your choice.

Here is the one thing that I have noticed about the metal clips that really makes me think about building some kydex clips. I sat down at the kitchen table with my IWB holster on and scratch the crap out of the chair as I slid down. Kydex seems to hold its form pretty well and I am thinking about building some s clips to show a lower profile.

The problem I had with the original plastic clips on one of my IWB holsters was that they were more brittle in really cold weather. On one really cold day, one of them snapped when the holster got caught on the door jamb of my truck. I've never had that problem with metal clips.
.
EDIT: Crossbreed sent new metal clips free of charge so I can't really complain.
