IndieWire: "Eastwood's Speech Unforgivable & Racist."
Did you know that a left wing liberal actor can talk up progressive causes for decades without denting his or her career, but a conservative actor can do mortal damage to his livelihood by publicly backing the GOP?
So says IndieWire.com in a stunning new editorial about Clint Eastwood's RNC speech that essentially confirms every negative & extremely partisan stereotype about the hard-left within the entertainment industry.

COMMENTARY: After His Republican National Convention Speech, Is Clint Eastwood 'Unforgiven'? | Filmmakers, Film Industry, Film Festivals, Awards & Movie Reviews | Indiewire

Branding Clint Eastwood and/or any Obama critic a racist, plays well with the mind numb robot voters the democrat base is counting on to get Obama re-elected. When this rhetoric starts to loose traction they will change the game.

Mr. Eastwood is plainly not a fan of Obama's. Neither am I. So, to the liberal thinkers that makes me racist. But, since I don't care what their opinion is any more than they care about me, other than my tax dollars or limiting my constitutional rights, or choices, so what? We know the "Hope and Change" road isn't leading anywhere worth going, so we'll have to hold our breath and see what the other side has to offer.

To be honest, I don't think he's a racist. He clearly should stick to acting and directing where he has a script and can do retakes of f'ed up scenes - the old grey matter ain't working like it used to. But when one talks to an empty chair, they do invite criticism and derision. If someone is calling him a racist it is probably not for taking the "republican's side" - it may be for the words he put in the empty chair's mouth.

Not sure why Eastwood volunteered to do this. He would be much better suited for the NRA in Charleton Heston's old footsteps, especially after all the shoot em ups Eastwood has filmed and launched with great success. He would be the poster child for open carry too, due to all the famous spaghetti westerns he made.

I did not watch the Reep dog and pony show, I only heard about the Eastwood cameo on the news.

There is little logical explanation for the extreme hatred which many in the Reep far right show. Thus it is therefore assumed to be due to racism. Nobody really knows if racism has anything to do with it or whether they would equally hate a lily white John Kerry if Kerry were president right now instead.

He is old and dry. Stay in Hollywood. Leave the country to normal folk. Politicians and actors are from the same ilk. Repubs messed up. The are just like dems now.

Otis: Just for curiousity's sake, who are the "normal folk" anymore? We have all been tagged as being "racists." gun nuts, leftists and every other term one can think of. And heaven forbid that one be classsified as a Christian, Jew, Mormon or any other name. Darn, who is left to be considered "normal folk?"

Considering that Eastwood is not a member of the NRA and has publicly endorsed the concept of gun control (including some specific measures, such as the Brady Bill) for the last forty years, he decidedly would not be well-suited to that role. In the 1970s, Eastwood even called for the registration of all guns.

Despite being heavily associated with firearms in his Westerns and cop movies, Eastwood has publicly endorsed gun control since at least 1973. In the April 24, 1973, edition of the Washington Post, the star stated that "I'm for gun legislation myself. I don't hunt."[305] Two years later, in 1975, Eastwood told People magazine that he favors "gun control to some degree".[306] About a year later, Eastwood remarked that "All guns should be registered. I don't think legitimate gun owners would mind that kind of legislation. Right now the furor against a gun law is by gun owners who are overreacting. They're worried that all guns are going to be recalled. It's impossible to take guns out of circulation, and that's why firearms should be registered and mail-order delivery of guns halted."[307] In 1993, he noted that "I was always a backer" of the Brady Bill, with its federally mandated waiting period.[308] In 1995, Eastwood questioned the purpose of assault weapons. Larry King, the famous television host and newspaper columnist, wrote in the May 22, 1995, edition of USA Today that "My interview with Eastwood will air on 'Larry King Weekend' ... I asked him his thoughts on the NRA and gun control and he said that while people think of him as pro-gun, he has always been in favor of controls. 'Why would anyone need or want an assault weapon?' he said."[309]

Moreover, many of Eastwood's films as a director, such as the Oscar-winning Unforgiven (1992), A Perfect World (1993), and the Oscar-nominated Mystic River (2003), explore the devastating consequences of gun violence.

Otis thinks normal people are like him. Live in mom's basement, collect a check, rant about the opportunities denied you by white people and have absolutely no clue what it takes to create something worth living for.

Clint isn't harmed by his honesty. He has the $$ and connections to do his own thing.
