I love the advice from the cops that the news guys ends with, "just give in." No message like, crime doesn't pay. If you follow the rules you stay alive. Lets raise kids to make better choices so they live longer. There are probably a couple hundred endings to this story that would have been much more accurate and educational than, "just give in"

I know what you are saying but in this instance the clerk with the gun certainly did value human life. He was protecting the staff and his patrons and so he killed the people that were breaking the law becoming a real and present threat to those he really cared about.
