What do you recommend to clean a Mossberg 500 12ga Shotgun?

I use Hoppe's Elite... same effectiveness as #9, but without the smell. Now the wife allows me to clean the firearms IN the house. Guess I cannot vote in this particular poll, my choice isn't listed.

BALLISTOL outperforms ANYTHING else...(well, maybe not brake cleaner for cleaning really mucked-up bores)

Use BALLISTOL on guns, knives, fishing & camping equipment, tools, wood, leather ...ANYTHING that needs cleaned, lubed or surface protection.

Its completely bio-degradeable. I have read that some people have experienced a dulling of plastic surfaces such as plastic grips, but I personally have used it for a long time, including contact with plastic grips on guns and tools, with NO surface effect.

B A L L I S T O L !!! (No, I don't have ANY connection with them)

I have to clean all mine in the shed. I use a CLP and then a light Rem oil. My Mossberg is a terror to take down, my wifes Rem 870 is great. For really dirty (Not mine, Buddies or Family) I use an spray that 'Jet" cleans, this take all the oil off and a good lube must be applied to all surfaces.

No smell? I grew up with that smell. I'll stick with #9 (my wife has never minded it)

Yeah, I miss it to... when she's out of town, (shhhh, don't tell her) I pull out the bottle of #9 when cleaning just to reminisce a little.

I forgot to add, in reply to NotTwoShure, I follow up with RemOil myself. I even use that on my expandable baton to make the action work more smoothly.
