Cleaning Marlin Model 60??

Here goes. Please advise.
How would you clean the feed tube and does it get any lube? Can I spray the internal action parts with brake lube and follow that up with wd-40? Thanks folks!

If you Google "how to clean a Marlin Model 60" you will come up with at least 8 sites including videos that walk you through the whole thing from break down to reassembly. I have always heard that you should never use WD-40 on a gun.
