City Of Chicago Ordered To Pay N R A’s Legal Fees – Again

Fairfax, Va. – The United States District Court in the Northern District of Illinois has ordered the City of Chicago to reimburse $940,000 in legal expenses incurred by the NRA. The NRA had challenged Chicago’s ban on gun sales within city limits in Benson v. City of Chicago. The Benson case was consolidated into Illinois Association of Firearm Retailers v. City of Chicago and that case challenged five aspects of Chicago’s law: (1) the ban on any form of carriage; (2) the ban on gun stores; (3) the ban on firing ranges; (4) the ban on self-defense in garages, porches, and yards; and (5) the ban on keeping more than one gun in an operable state.

This is the second time that the City of Chicago has been ordered to reimburse legal fees in a suit sponsored by the NRA. The first was following the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark ruling in McDonald v. City of Chicago, in which Chicago was ordered to reimburse the NRA more than $600,000.

Just FYI. I still don't like the N R A, but I like Chicago tyrants a lot less. Glad to see that all y'all's dues isn't just being spent on marketing.

IMHO Rahm is most likely foaming at the mouth and most likely getting close to needing rabies shots! Lib-o-rats do not do well when they lose!

I would think this is funny but my wife has family living in Chicago and we both have friends still in Chicago. I feel sorry for them because some can not and others think they can not move out of IL.

I don't think all liberals hate guns... New Mexico is a democratic state and its a gun loving state! just about everyone I know keeps a gun in the car, and not all of them are conservatives.

My brother in law practices law in Illinois and he loves it out there. I don't think one's ability to carry should solely determine where one lives.

I did not mean that people should leave IL because of their ideas about guns. I mean that IL politics is so corrupt and broke that people that live there will be taxed to death.

I was born and raised in Southern IL and moved to Chicago for work after I got out of the Navy. I know something of the political landscape there. I also know something about the court system in the Chicago area. It is also corrupt. I am NOT saying your brother-in-law is corrupt. But the system is!!! My wife and I know and have a couple of good honest lawyers in the Chicago area.

I left IL 30 years ago and will never move back there.

I, too, grew up in Chicago, but on the westside suburbs. Left when I was 10. I don't know about the corruption, but I assume it exists in every major city.

Bottom-line, I prefer not to label anyone as a liberal or conservative, because nobody is a true liberal or conservative. Nobody can be that extreme. And I don't like the negative connotation attached to these terms.

I was kinda curious about that too. Just for the record, no one has to "label" me a far-right, Christian conservative, because I proudly proclaim the description. "Labeling" me anything but a far-right (politically-speaking), Christian (faith-speaking) conservative would make the "labeler" an extreme liar!

Isn't it a shame that truth (and Truth) is considered "extreme" these days? How does one "moderate" truth (or Truth)? Is "moderated" truth any truth at all? Moderated between truth and.......what? Untruth, right? Certainly something lesser than truth.

And we're the extreme ones because we believe in literal readings of both our spiritual guide, The Bible, and our legal foundations, The Constitution. It's an amazing bit of pretzel logic that society has been deceived by, and that's the extreme truth!
