Emanuel said police have moved in more officers, removed guns and drugs off the street, and over the weekend, arrested 307 people and confiscated more than 100 weapons during several drug busts across the city.
"We can keep doing that," he said, "but we have to pass stronger gun laws in this state. We're not talking about repealing conceal/ carry, but making sure we have a tougher set of laws dealing with assault weapons and other types of guns."

I don't think he even knows his own laws....How do they even have any citizens walking around with an arrest rate and death toll so high? Can they even reproduce fast enough to sustain life?

The reason he's not talking about repealing conceal/carry is because it's not a law. It is barely legal to own a firearm in chicago and you better never be caught out of your house with it in a state of readiness.

So its still the guns fault for all the crime and the dreaded assult rifle just never goes away..To bad you never hear from the poverty pimps like Jackson and Sharpton. What arent they all over TV and town meetings screaming about all the crime but they sure can raise hell with Zimmerman. I guess the Mayors threshold of crime finally got to high so now its time to make a token effort so it appears he is doing something. CC probable wont do much good in the hood with all the felons there and very few would qualify for a permit.Nothing is going to change and inocent people will continue to be victims because of bad policy. Its been the same thing for decades now, pop out the kids, dont go to school, join a cool gang and if you try to better yourself your a whitey. Dont condem the peoples actions but rather the tools..JMO

Produce the cold hard stats on how many assault weapons were confiscated out of the hundred, my bet is 1, likely 0. You have a gun free city, so I am sure no weapons were confiscated. Try arresting the thugs and put them in jail, or is the term thug a little close to home for you.

the good mayor is just making a show. he has to make it look as though he is making progress.after all he is a democrat and a former white house insider. election getting close and all. that bust is a drop on a bucket on illegal guns, but then all guns are illegal in chicago, so he is wanting to pass more legislation to keep the already illegal guns out of the hands of the bad guys? really? how is that working out so far.

This story is obviously made-up Outlaw.... how is it possible anyone can get shot in Chicago when they are not allowed to carry a firearm outside? Obviously bad reporting. :jester:

According to their law anything larger than a rubber band gun made with your hand is considered an assault weapon...even that rubber band gun has a one round restriction...

All I can think of to say about this is that I am glad that I do not live in Illinois, and really have no need to go there. I haven't crossed a state line into Illinois in nearly 30 years, and haven't flown into O'Hare in over 20. And I'm quite fine with that.

It is a shame though, lots of cool stuff to do there, especially in Chicago. I have no desire to dodge bullets to do them.

Until the people of Chicago and Illinois realize that their problems are the people they elect, things won't get any better there.

What he is saying is also being said in NY City.
Yes they have restrictive gun laws but the problem is that guns are legal in other parts of the state.
So........................once they achieve their objective of making their state gun free, the murders and mayhem will continue.
Then they will go to the media and plead for more help.
They will say that because guns are still available in other states the elite citizens of L.A., NY City and Chicago are still being murdered.
They will shout." These people have the gawd given right to go to their favorite Starbucks without fear darn it! We need to eliminate guns in all 57 states. And we need to eliminate them now."
Remember that we are just flyover peon's and we are here to serve them.

ps. All of the guns I own still haven't murdered me. Still waiting.......

Expecting solutions from bed wetting bleeding heart progressive liberals is like expecting heqq to freeze over. Isn't going to happen.
