Chiappa Firearms

Has anyone ever heard of Chiappa Firearms? I was on their website and noticed they have handguns that are non-lethal and shoot rubber balls. Does anyone know the effectiveness of these firearms? Are they practical for defense purposes? Do you need a license to carry (open or concealed)? They are unique looking.

don't know but if those rubber bullets don't hurt it might be a great way to practice......
i wonder if they are manufactured in chaipas mexico?

Why would you carry a non-lethal gun? Dont bring a knife to a gun fight, and damn sure dont bring a fake gun to a gun fight!

not to carry but perhaps a good practice tool like they make rubber knives for tatical practice purposes

When I'm on duty with the Sheriff's Reserve, I carry a night stick. I may not carry it nor have it in my car when I'm not in uniform... it is considered a restricted weapon.
I do know we use bean bag or rubber ammo for our shotguns, however I have not heard of this ammo being able to be used by civilians legally. I may be wrong here, but I have not heard of their legality or illegality. If I were to assume, I'd have to say they would not be a legal weapon for the same reason my nightstick is not.

Here's another caveat, if you pull that thing (and I looked it up on Chiappa's website, it looks like any other revolver), no other person will know it's not a real gun and you could easily get shot at with REAL ammunition.

You should consult your states issuing authority and make sure about the legality of it, and you should also reconsider your carry options. The last thing you want is to have to use that thing, hurt the bad guy with it, and then have a hurt bad guy with a real gun in your face.
