CheaperThanDirt.com advertises on USA Carry.........

Lots of folks mad about CheaperThanDirt.com's decision to quit selling firearms. Lots of folks right here on this forum say they will no longer support CTD because of that decision. So if CTD advertises here, how many of you will quit this forum for allowing a spineless jellyfish to advertise?

I wouldn't know if they advertised on this forum or not. I use adblock plus on firefox and don't see ads on most webpages

If CTD pays to support the forums then they'd pay to support the forums. That would make no change in how I view their business practice, I still would not recommend them.

I am just trying to figure people out. I used to sell tires. Guy comes in, wants tires for his car. Reads on tire, "Made in Brazil". Guy says, "I don't buy ANYTHING unless it is made in the USA". I ask what car he wants to put tires on. "Toyota", he replies. I give him the look. He says, "yeah, well that's different".

I will never buy anything from CTD.com. They have lost my business. But yet I will post to a free forum that is sponsered by CTD.com.

But there's a difference, usacarry wouldn't be owned by CTD, they'd be sponsored by. Being sponsored by someone does not mean that you agree with all of their views. You could say that supporters of the site are sponsors and we all have different views on certain things.

Sponsorship is just renting advertising space... Now I'm sure it would be a different story if it were the kkk or some hate group like that, but a store? Naaa, just block the ads

I understand what you're saying. For example, if you do not support a retail store because of their gun policies, but yet they advertise on your favorite radio station, it does not mean that you are going to quit listening to that station.

Looks to me like the USA Carry uses Google ads or something similar to monetize the site. Google ads uses your browsing history to deiver targeted ads to you that share common factors with the website you are on. So when you are on USA Carry and you recently surfed Sportsmansguide.com (as I did) you will see ads from Sportsmanguide.com. It's based on the websites you've visited most often and recently, what you did on those sites, and how those activities match up with the website you're on now (USAcarry.com). If adwords is not able to track you for whatever reason, you will get generic ads in a rotation that are related to the website you are visiting.

Cheaper Than Dirt! recently announced that it was temporarily suspending online sales of firearms pending a review of its order processing and procedures. Well-known for its ability to process and ship orders within 24 hours, online sales have skyrocketed to a point where it may take up to 72 hours for firearms and other items to ship.

"In light of recent events, we believe it is prudent to review our policies and procedures to ensure we can continue to provide the products and firearms our customers demand," said Chief Operations Officer Roberta Wilson. "We will resume online sales once we update our process and continue as we have always done by shipping firearms only to FFL dealers."

Ms. Wilson closed with, "As a long-time supporter of the Second Amendment, we will continue to serve the needs of the firearms community while ensuring our unsurpassed level of quality and customer service."

having read loads of comments such as, "I will never do business with CTD again!" cracks me up! The same knee jerk reaction to CTD deciding to Temporarily suspend gun sales as the Anti-Gunners have after every shooting! CTD made a corporate decision to temporarily suspend sales and review their policys after being slammed with literally thousands of gun orders in a single day, and did not have the capacity to keep up and still maintain it's high level of customer service! They also needed to review how they check on the qualifications of the FFL's that they ship to, to make sure they were not doing anything illegal to keep the feds happy!

Gotta love all the knee jerking going on! Hope no one got a black eye over it!

They have changed their online banner since I posted my question 2 days ago. When I posted the question, their banner read, "CheaperThanDirt.com does not sell firearms". At that time there was no indication whatsoever on their site that they planned to resume firearms sales. Now their banner reads, "Online firearms sales will resume once we have updated our process". So did they mis-word their original banner, or did they bend under pressure from their customers? Or just bad timing all around?

I had no problem supporting and did buy from them before they freaked out to pressure...
As I recall it is my money (Not all the Governments yet), and I will spend it as I choose...




And they will not see a dime due to their spineless act!




They sure don't support our 2nd Amendment!

I stopped considering CTD for purchases when they chose to jack up their ammo prices dramatically when ammo was hard to get. I don't like gougers.
