Cheaper Automotive Batteries

I would like to pass something along to hopefully save some of us some hard earned money.

The last two times I have priced automotive batteries Sams Club has been a LOT cheaper than Autozone or Oreilleys. Almost half the price actually. And they have Interstate Batteries.

The two vehicles were a 90's model ford t-bird and a 05 honda civic.

Results may vary (lol) but I hope this might help someone out.

A few buddies swear by the Costco batteries. They said something about a 3 year guarantee. They'll go and have their batteries checked out at around the 34 or 35 month mark telling them that the batteries aren't cranking like they should be. The techs at Costco would have them leave the car for an hour or so and bench test the batteries. After they're done testing, they will call my buddies and let them know that the batteries are "out of spec" and offer to exchange the batteries free of charge. They swear that they haven't purchased a new battery in almost 10 years!

I don't have the rocks to pull off what they do, but for the thrifty individual who has a Costco membership and willing to see if it works, you may get a new battery or at least get a deep discount as they pro-rate the batteries.

BTW, my buddies purchased the 5 year guaranteed batteries. Here in PRHI, batteries last 3 years tops if you're lucky.

What you really have to watch out for is shelf life.... if it has the acid in it just sitting on the shelf will ruin it... but Sam's does have a no BS warranty on their batterys....

If you want inexpensive batteries see if you have a Interstate battery store in your area. They carry Blem batteries at a good discount. Blem batteries are batteries that have cosmetic blemishes on them. They carry a full warranty and the blemishes don't interfere with their operation.
