Changing Glock 33 ".357 sig" barrel with Glock 27 ".40"

Read a recent article about the ability of changing out barrels with certain compatible Glocks to change caliber. Has anyone on here done this or regularly does this, andif you have did you find it to be a worthwhile change for you to have a 2 in 1 gun so to speak?

I have a G33 & it would be very good to change the barrel to a 40 s&w. I love the 357sig round but it is so expensive I rarely get to shoot.

Some are more interchangeable than others. Glocks in .40/.357 swap just easy as that. The mags while they have have different followers, work just fine with either caliber. Cheap and easy way to shoot two calibers.

I can't speak to the 2 models your talking about but I did buy a Lone Wolf barrel for my Gen 3 Glock 23 .40 so I could shoot .357 sig. That is now my carry gun and it has worked flawlessly for me at the range and I'm more accurate using this barrel and particular round. Because of that I will buy the 9mm barrel for it too. For my Gen4 G27, I will at least buy the 9mm barrel. Not sure about the .357 sig for that one just yet.

@ boonecollard I have the same and am in the same position of sig is high $ and your kinda getting a new gun for 1/5 the price of buying a new gun, so its pretty logical to me to give it a shot.

@ tx_chl that was more of the answer i was trying to get to, but coming off night shift and kinda out of it when i wrote my post, was supposed to be more geared toward the reliability of the swap, only ? i have left would be about eh 9mm barrel would be if that would involve a conversion kit, i would imagine it does.

I dont have a 33 but Im buying a 40-9mm conversion barrel for my G22. These things are pretty popular and most people swear they work almost as good as the original barrel/caliber, although I wouldnt carry with a conversion barrel, Id just buy one so I could shoot cheaper ammo every now and then.

I own the G27 and long ago purchased the Lonewolf 9mm coversion barrel. That along with 2 magazines in 9mm I have the ability to practice with 9mm cheaper in the long run. I also reload quite a bit but have not gotten around to reloads on .40 and 9mm yet.

That's exactly what I'm planning to do with my Glock 23. Glad to hear it works so well for you.

This is my experience. I bought a Glock 27 because you could have 3 handguns in one. I purchased a lonewolf barrel in .357 sig and also a 9 mm barrel. The 40 and 9 shoot flawlessly. HOWEVER, with the .357 sig barrel I ran into stove piping. Not alot, but enough that I would never use it as an everyday carry. Too unreliable. My thoughts were that the recoil springs were different and the hotter .357 round was cycling the handgun too fast for the feed. It was never from the same mag and I couldnt narrow it down to anything else. I like the .357 sig round so much that I am honestly thinking of getting a 33. Hope this helps!

I have the barrel to 9mm in my G22. It works great though I don't use it much anymore since I started reloading my own .40's. It does give me the ability to shoot another cal. out of the same gun should .40 ammo ever disappear.

Can you give us a link to this article? Thanks!

First I would like to thank everyone for taking the time to put in some input in the matter. Sadly I can not remember where I read the article came across it on a long boring day at work, it was intresting and appears to be a fair working idea. So sorry I can't link the article for those of you curious, but glock parts.com does have the barrels and they are marked as interchangeable if that helps with anyone else's decision making.
