Has anyone attempted to apply for a permit as a private investigator in Maryland?
As far as I can see, it's the only route to a CCW that doesn't involve direct threats, an insurance policy (if fewer than five employees), a legal/medical profession, or a law enforcement background. As I have a background in an industry that could easily support investigative work, I'm debating the creation of a sole-owner LLC with no additional employees. I'm willing to front the money to incorporate the company, register it with the state, and do the annual tax paperwork (just enough revenue to cover range costs :laugh, if there's a reasonable chance that it will be approved.
