CCW IWB Holsters

I live in the hot south and body sweat is a real problem when CCW. I have spent several h undred dollars on different holsters and all but one allowed sweat to soak thru and rust my pistol. The one that doesn't is quite large and hard to conceal under a t=shirt. The Desantis Sof-tuck is the one I really like but it is the worst for absorbing sweat.
Anyone have any suggestions on a solution to my problem?

I have use IWB holsters and still do at times. For my body type I find that an OWB holster is better at least when I am wearling a shirt outside. When carring in shorts and t in the hot summer I cary in my pocket holster this requires a change of guns bukt It works for me

I carry evey day in a IWB holster and the one thing I look for is that it's made out of Horsehide or has a least a horsehide swet guard... Horsehide won't absorbe swet and its less likely to pass it onto the hangin... With that said, I will still have a gun covered with condensation in the summer months.

I use a Crossbreed Supertuck IWB. It is a leather and kydex hybrid holster that works well for me in hot weather. The leather backing covers a large area and helps keep sweat away from my weapon. It works for me anyway.

I live in Florida and have the same problem. If I'm only going out for a few hours, I usually just use an Uncle Mikes or Blackhawk IWB "soft" holster .. . If I'm out for the day - I find that the Thunderwear rig is the most comfortable & convenient way to carry in the summer. No problems with moisture (it has a flexible plastic backing), and I can be fully concealed in a t-**** & pair of shorts....and I can carry my Kahr p-40 (or Kimber Ultra carry) and a spare mag without issues. I sometimes forget I'm carrying. The only issue is going to take a piss - self explanatory (tip - find a stall).

Works for me...

I use a white tank style t-shirt under my cover shirt in the summer. I don't usually have much problem with sweat on my gun. I gets up to 100 a times here where I live, but never have any trouble. T-shirts are not a good thing to wear when concealing. I wear a thin full cut button up and leave the botton button open to permit excess to my pistol to be drawn if needed. I never wore these tanks before carrying concealed, but it works for me.

Gotta disagree with you there. I have a Whitehat horsehide holster that I have sweat through on more than one occasion.

A few months back I started making my own holsters. I did a lot of research on different types of leather and found that horsehide is most definitely not better. My preference now is thick, veg tanned cowhide.

Don't take my word for it though, check out these links:

Holsters in Cowhide or Horsehide from Horseshoe Leather

Bottom line is that if you are sweating for long enough, there's no leather that you can't sweat through.
For me, thick cowhide works.

I have an idea for a sweat proof, leather against your skin holster. Keep an eye out. Once I have an advertising budget you may see my ad here.

I was wearing my desantis sof tuck just last week when the temps were in the 50's. I had a tshirt on then my holster/gun and then a longsleeve shirt untucked. I was working outside for about 6 1/2 hours and when I pulled my pistol out the front 2 inches of the slide was covered in surface rust. I need a synthetic holster that the back is just big enough to cover all of the pistol. I have a synthetic holster that does a good job except for the mag release button. It touches my skin or tshirt and will rust in a few hours time. I also, have a holster that has an impermeable sheet sewn between layers that does the job except the back is so big it really is hard to conceal. Maybe I am just asking to much but do the holster manufacturers actually carry and use their products? Surely not.

I wear White Hat horse hide holster.I live in central Tx.hill country in the summer its 100+ I have never sweat through the leather . I do like wearing a tank top type A shirt under my T shirt for comfort maybe the cotton material wicks away enough sweat that it will not soak through horsehide. Earl

I really appreciate all the answers to my post and what I have learned is that as of now there is no holster out there that fits the criteria I set forth. I do Home Remoldeling and during the warmer days, I sweat profusely. I go thru leather and synthetic belts like a mad man. The sweat just eats them up. Leather shoes/boots don't last long either. work jeans will stand by themselves after they dry because of all the salt and they don't last long at all. I have owned a horsehide holster and I sweated thru it in about 7 hours.
Guess what I need is an all plastic gun:laugh:

my Broomeland Max Con V is cowhide and sealed with a laquered dye process. I am in Ar. and it's always a hot muggy summer here. I have not sweat through it yet. I wear a dark A-type undershirt (black/blue) I think it is a good background to aid in concealment, and an untucked button down shirt. The holster is between the undershirt and my jeans and is very comfortable even in the worst humidity. I do wipe down my gun at the end of the day as a precaution.Condensation from muggy outside to ice cold air inside, seems to be most of what I see, with the exception of what inevitably runs down my back, into the rig from the top, once my shirt is soaked.I keep a couple of shirts handy during the hot months anyway. The holster does not soak through, yet isn't like wearing a plastic rig. Good product, not over the top price wise.

Check out Ramora holsters. I I've been using one mowing grass in the summer in Kentucky. My all steel CZ 75 doesn't get a bit of moisture on it.

I live in Las Vegas where it get pretty darn hot. I carry my G26 IWB in a horsehide holster.

Ninety percent of the time, I wear a shirt tucked in between the holster and my skin...covering the gun with a vest or an untucked shirt. Doing so, prevents moisture from soaking thru the holster.

However, there are those few times when moisture does indeed soak through, and I switch holsters for a day while the WH dries. In the low humidity, it doesn't take over a day. I carry a Desantis "Cozy Partner" when the WH is drying.

To me, having an inexpensive, temporary substitute is preferable to re-inventing the wheel.

I just finished doing an inventory of my ccw holsters, IWB, OWB, and pocket. I have over $550.00 invested in them and not one of them is ideal. I think I have figured holster manufacturers out. They don't want to create the perfect holster because then, they would only sell a person one. This way they keep getting our money.
Either that or the designers are like architects who design homes-they don't wear them and the architects don't have to work on them.

So, how does one get the holster he wants? We can customize our guns, cars, houses and etc. but how/where do we get our "custom" holsters made? There are not many leathershops around anymore.

That would be great if it were that simple. Yes, a full kydex holster is the ideal kind. I have one that is close to ideal but it does not quite cover the mag release button which rust pretty bad in a days time and the belt clip is a little weak. This is as close as I can get to my ideal setup.
