CCW iPhone APP

If any of you guys have an iPhone I found a good app. Check it out. It will give you all of the laws for each State, has maps to show you what States honor your permit, Links to shooting ranges and instructors. A lot of good info for 99cents. Go to the app store and search "CCW concealed carry 50 state guide"

And NO, I'm not affiliated with the owner/company that made it. Not a troll ect. Just a new member, New CCW holder and Just wanted to share the info.

So, the wife and I are traveling to Atlanta Georgia next weekend to meet up with a friend who is flying in from Denver Colorado. According to the map Georgia does not recognize the SC Concealed Carry permit. I am reading the Official Code of Georgia Annotated via this iPad app. The wording is sort of confusing. For instance here is part (e) any person licensed to carry a handgun or weapon in any other state whose laws recognize and give effect to a license issued pursuant to this part shall be authorized to carry a weapon in this state, but only while the licensee is not a resident of this state; provide, however, that such licensee shall carry the weapon in compliance with the laws of this state." Is this saying that if SC recognizes the GA CCW permit then I would be able to carry concealed in Ga? Seeing as GA does not recognize the SC CCW permit that probably means SC does not recognize the GA permit either. Before I cross the state line I will have to stop my vehicle, unload the weapon and lock it in a box. Splendid....

word of caution, and this isn't to take away from what is undoubtedly a fine app, that 3rd party information on the law of the land should be used like Wikipedia and used as a reference and never a cited source. Always go to the area your are planning on traveling through and look at the states AG website and check the local ordinances to be safe. That being said, I am glad that resources like this are becoming available. Good find.

It looks to me like they are posting straight from each States Code/Ordinance. You would still want to make sure no new changes to the laws have been made since the last update was done to the app. It says that it was last updated on 1-1-2012 as of now.

I know it's a bit late in your enlightenment about SC/GA but being a previous SC resident and CC permit holder. I would travel to GA/FLA on occasion. I had to secured a FLA non-resident just because of SC/GA non agreement. Fla CC is acceptable in GA. In the near future I would make it a point to apply to Fla.

SIDE NOTE: SC's minimum requirement for training/Class time is more than Ga. Hence SC will not honor Ga and Ga will not reciprocate if another State doesn't honor theirs. (Sad but true, so much for a friendly neighbor State. Especially in the South)

Yep darn good app! The Dev also provides fast and helpfull support (on par with support from Luke). After an update, I noticed what I thought was a conflict and sent an email. I got an answer in about 30 minutes and a resolution in less than an hour. This was on a Sunday evening and it would have been faster but I didn't check my email.

My version (Android, Moto DroidX) takes me to the state of Iowa website when I press "Iowa Code - Weapons". When I press "Library of Congress - Gun Ownership" it takes me to The Law Library of Congress. When I press "ATF Gun Regulations" it takes me to the ATF website. I can't speak to other operating systems or phones, but as long as you allow updates when they occur, I think you're getting current info "from the horses mouth" as they say.

Based on an experience I had before I found this app, I like having it with me almost as much as having my weapon with me!
