CCW Cobb County GA

CCW permit applications are processed by the Cobb County Probate court. Problem is, their office hours are 8am to 3:30pm Monday to Friday. Therefore those if us who work for a living have to take time off to go apply for what the Second Amendment already allows.
Has anyone found a work-around, or maybe a non-resident GA permit from another county?

I just took a morning off and took my wife down to get ours. Took 40 minutes for both of us from walking in the building to walking out. I believe the out of state Florida permit is honored in GA and can be obtained my mail... But it's more expensive and requires you to take a Florida-approved CCW course (more money).

The reason you have to go is they use a fingerprint scanner - can't do that by mail. Not sure how fingerprinting in Florida works but I've read people are able to do it without actually going to Florida. You might still have to go to a local government office to get fingerprinted.

You are going to have to jump through the hoops I'm afraid. it does not take a lot of time, but it is an inconvenience for sure.

It took about an hour max to get everything done for Gwinnett County.

So, this a begs a question, then.... would you be OK with having to obtain the government's permission to carry your firearm if they extended their hours to include evenings and weekends?

Thanks for the responses to my post.
NavyLCDR: No, I'm not OK with having to obtain permission to do what the Constitution already allows, but I am realistic enough to understand that permiting is just another revenue stream for these burocracies and if they dont get their "cut" then they just make life impossible. Lets face it - you're likely to get more jail time for tax fraud than for killing your grandma - enough said.
I like the non-resident Arizona option, and together with my OH permit should cover my required geography well. Looks a bit more costly than the GA rigmarole option but nice to be able to do it all online.

Be careful. Unless you have a Georgia license, it will still be against Federal law (with a few exceptions) to carry a loaded firearm within 1000' of school premises in Georgia (18 USC 922(q)(2)).
