CCW Cleaning schedule

How often do you clean your CCW even if it has not been fired?

Whether you fire your gun or not you should clean it every 30 days. This will keep your firearm is top condition and rust free...

And the other side of the coin - I have a Glock 19 that has not been cleaned in 15 years. I took it apart and it looks spiffy. I don't carry it BTW. As an aside, if you carry a gun that is not fired, you are liable to have it shoved up your butt some day or even worse. Practice regularly with your CCW gun so you are not a danger to yourself and others. Too many people are carrying guns who are not qualified in reality to be so doing, but unfortunately we have some rather liberal CCW licensing rules. If some of the idiots I see at the range are any example, they would be better off leaving their weapon at home in the drawer.

If I wasn't shooting for practice weekly, I'd clean it every month to a month and a half. One reason why stainless steel is good for a concealed carry gun.

My carry weapon is a Ruger SR9C.

Inspected every other day, field striped and cleaned once a week or after firing.

Deep cleaning (taking apart slide/striker assembly) once a month or after extensive range time.

Thanks to everyone for sharing your thoughts/practices. I think my practice will fall some where between "Why clean it" and "Sunday dinner" :)

I clean and oil all my firearms every month keeps em rust free and give you something to do.I carry a Glock 19 and I still clean it after I shoot it or every month..because why take the chance...?

you're supposed to clean them??? I'l be right back..

My words of wisdom.
My mother bless her heart always told me to put on clean underwear and clothes everyday. If you have to go to the hospital you want clean under wear on. Because you never know what will happen. So I will also never carry a dirty gun. If I shoot it I clean it that evening before I go to bed. My handguns if I haven't shot them within the past 60-90 days will be inspected to make sure they are in working order on a regular basis. My long guns which haven't been out of the safe in years are all going to be soon inspected and cleaned on a regular basis I have neglected them some were put away duty many years ago very bad Me. I have many hours of work to do but They deserve my attention too.
