I've been cc for about 6 months and i cant help but to wonder what to expect when someone sees that Im carrying. Any thoughts or experiences would be helpful!

Where are you located?

In WA, and being an open carrier, I'd say don't sweat it. I have had a my share of people come up and ask questions, but no one has been aggressive or negative towards me or my firearm. If you are worried, learn the laws of your area and the BoR. I do not think you will have any issues, the majority of the people around town are oblivious to an openly carried firearm, I doubt anyone will see your concealed or partially concealed firearm.

Welcome to the world of carrying.

As everyone knows in wisconsin concealed carry law passed in november. Open carry has been already legal in wisconsin. I open carry most of the time, I have noticed people tend to stare at my gun while I am grocery shopping and standing in line at the check out. I do notice that they stand farther back after noticing my gun. I have had a few dirty looks from people after they look at my gun. But no one has said anything...yet.

I wouldn't sweat it to much. I used to worry about this myself, I just make sure what I wear is suffecient and do some sitting and bending over and see how it does before leaving the house. Even if someone does see it and calls the cops, just comply with them, no sudden moves, let them do the friskin and such while lwtting them know your ccl. I've read stories of people confronted by police and they went to pull their license and were shot dead. Here in Texas from what I get from the laws, is if it's seen, it's not brandishing.

No way to predict how someone will react in the furture. The majority of people will not notice at all as they are to busy with whatever is occupying their attention to watch you. Of the small minority that do take notice, some might ignore you, some might compliment you on your choice to carry, or some little old lady that's about 90 might go balistic on you. Your concerns are more a matter of you getting used to carrying. The longer you carry the less you'll be concerned.

You must be a new carrier...you'll get used to it ... give it time and you will not notice that it is part of your everyday life to put a gun on when dressing up. Just practice situational awareness each time you go out of the door. Be normal but aware. Then you will not notice and "they" will be too busy living their own lives that they will not notice you either. My elders had always said, "try to be small ... and invisible now, you'll have your own moments later."

It's kinda like having a bad hair day. Nobody notices but you and even if it prints a little they don't have any idea what the bump is. The only people that would even guess are others that carry so it's no sweat.

I know I never thought about someone else CC when I was in stores until I started CC. Now I find myself looking at others wondering if they are carrying.

Helpful stuff, thanks! What will you say when people finally ask you about it? "why do you have a gun?"

IME that is extremely rare.

Tucker's Mom mentions raising your situational awareness, when you do you will realize just how lost in their own little worlds people are they don't have time to waste worrying about you. 99.999999999999999% won't notice the gun and most of the .000000000000000000000000000000001 that do will think you're a cop anyway.

Stop overthinking this stuff. You have shirt or some kind of clothing on that is not see thru and is long enough and loose enough that an obvious "printing" is not an issue----end of story.

The only thing that will change will be the way you dressed up. So "honey .... does my butt look big in this pants?" or "does my shirt looks like I am pregnant?" will be the conversation between you and your partner before you head out of the door. :sarcastic:

I just tell them that I chose to be responsible for my own safety and of those of my family and friends. I don't get into the politics, just what they can understand. Safety for myself and the people I care for.

I was at Walmart with my kiddo and you know how they put off duty Leo at the entrances. Well long story short my kid was horsing around (trying to get something out of my pocket, I guess) well he flashed my gun in an owb band holster right at the cop. My kid just kinda tossed my cover shirt right over the gun. I didn't notice, the cop did. He came over asked if I had any weapons on me, I said yes as a matter of fact I do, and I have a chl would you like to see it? Very professional encounter. Showed him my chl and everything was good. Even talked to my kid a little about being careful when dads carrying.

when i first started carying 6 years ago, i was allways woried somebody would notice. well nobody ever did and now i dont think about it. i dont feel right if i dont have my weapon with me.
