I am a security officer/ bouncer at a local bar in Alabama. I was in a scenerio the other night where a patron went to his vehicle and retrieved his pistol to reenter the bar to shoot someone. I caught the guy as he entered the bar, I was unarmed. I instructed him that he needed to leave the bar immediately. I was able to get him to leave the bar. when I got him far enough from the bar entrance I pulled my weapon from my vehicle and was able to get the armed subject to surrender his weapon. Law enforcement was called and the subject got in his car and ran. What my question is, what are the circumstances involved in Carrying a weapon concealed/open in a bar/club In Alabama? I am a CC permit holder.

Appears to me you'd be legal to carry.

Section 13A-11-73 - License to carry pistol in vehicle or concealed on person - Required.

No person shall carry a pistol in any vehicle or concealed on or about his person, except on his land, in his own abode or fixed place of business, without a license therefor as hereinafter provided

Alabama Concealed Carry Permit Information

Q: What are the laws involving alcohol and carrying a concealed weapon in Alabama?

A: We have found no Alabama state law that prohibits carrying a concealed weapons in a establishment that serves alcohol. There are some counties that list this as prohibited on the permit itself. We recommend going by what your local sheriff and/or permit says. Might want to check into if Alabama requires some sort of license when employed as security. I know from when I was a security officer I had to be licensed by the state and there was a different license for armed security. That may/may not apply in your case.

Thanks for all the quick responses guys! The deputies that arrived on scene never asked for my CC permit. Never mentioned anything about a permit whatsoever. I will do some digging around and see why I can cone up with. Thanks again!
