Hello everyone, this is my first post. Just recently acquired an M44 Mosin Nagant, its marked 1946 all #'s match great condition. I have not even fired the rifle yet and I'm hooked already. I'm going tomorrow to pick up another, its the 91/30, as well as a Turkish 8mm Mauser. I own plenty handguns as well as shotguns but these are my first rifles. I miss shooting rifles as I shot my M16 everyday back in my Army days. The purpose of my post is to ask where the best place in northern Ohio to shoot long range? My normal range is 50 yds indoors. As well as anybody locale have any rounds for sale for the Nagant or 8mm mauser? I appreciate any input thanks.

Off topic, I"m in Texas so I can't help on the range. This rifle is going to be my next purchase. $135 on budsgunshop.com As far as the rounds, check luckygunner.com, decent prices & shipping if you can't find it local.

Welcome to the Mosin Nagant bug bit. I also have an M44 made in 1944 and bought dad a 91/30 made in 1927. Ammo can be found and the cheapest right now for you if you want a case would likely be from Ammunition To Go : Your one stop for all of your ammunition needs! What you need is 7.62X54R ammo and you can get the surplus Russian for around $75 a tin of 440rds or $145 a case of two tins ( 880rds) plus shipping.

Thanks.

Just picked up my Mosin 91/30, Turkish Mauser and SKS. The gentleman I traded gave me 100 rounds for each gun as well as all the accessories for the guns, they are all in excellent condition. Now I just have to sneak them past the wife to put them in the safe.

Be careful when buying 7.62x54r. Most of the cheap stuff is corrosive. Ive always heard that if you shoot it you need to clean your rifle inside and out with soapy water, dry it completely, then clean normally. The newer pricier ammo is fine though.

Thanks, I read the same thing, people say windex works to, all the ammo I have is the old surplus corrosive stuff. I just striped them all down and cleaned them, excellent condition, my buddy told me about a range an hr away from Cleveland that is outdoors and goes up to 300 yards. Were going next week.
