Carrying with a VA permit?

Can I legally carry concealed in NC using a only VA Non-resident Carry Permit? Because a permit in VA can be obtained online for $39.95. I was told that since NC & VA honor each other's permits, this was legal. Just wanted to hear it from somebody that knows for sure.

I carry with a Utah non res permit. NC started this year to honor ALL valid CCW permits aside of formal reciprocity.

A non-resident permit for Virginia has an application fee of $100.00. The application also requires a fingerprint card completed by law enforcement, 2 2x2 headshot photographs, a copy of your state issued ID, a photocopy of a certificate that shows competency with a weapon, and the application must be signed before a Notary. I don't think a Virginia non-resident CPW will be valid anywhere purchased online for $39.95.

I took the $39.95 class online and submitted it with the application and all accompanying docs with $100 cashiers check. Submitted in September and expect end of January. They are running behind on processing so expect more than the twelve weeks the receipt for payment states. I live in Texas and did it so I can conceal carry when I'm home in Ohio.

The $39.95 class is accepted for the license. If you have a conceal carry already, the online course will take about 15 minutes. When you have local LEO do your fingerprint card, make sure they stamp the department name on it.

A VA non-resident is legal for NC but you will not get a permit for $39.95 it will cost you $100 there used to be a website where you could get your CCW handgun certificate online for about $40 and with the certificate you can get the non-resident permit. However last I looked they have discontinued it temporarily because they were swamped with requests.

This is how I got my permit about 5 months ago. The VA permit is good for 5 years then you may renew it.

NC honors all other states' permits and NC does not have a "NC resident must have a NC permit" restriction.

The $39.95 you're looking at is just for the class...not the permit itself.
