I have the right to carry a gun if I want to . I carried many of them for this country in Nam to protect ALL of this country. But if I get a permit to carry it goes by state and I am only aloud to carry in a number of States. This is WRONG. I laid my life on the line for ALL of them not just a couple of states. My permit should be good in ALL the states.
 
If you were Military Police at some time during your service, you can now carry in all 50 States, and US territories under HR218 Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act.
 
That's what the constitution says. Yet we allow the liborats to sacrifice the rights of many to protect the butthurt feelings of the very few.
 
You're preaching to the choir.

It's generally getting better on the reciprocity and recognition fronts, though there are cases of backtracking from time to time. In the past year, several more states have joined the "recognize all other state permits" fold.

Just don't hold your breath on being able to travel to all 57 states on one permit any time soon.
 
Some states have chosen to hand in their rights and join the French surrender monkeys.

During my time in the army I was asked to go to a police station and escort a deserter back to the base. I was issued a 1911 and orders for the task. Does that qualify for concealed carry in all 50 states and US territories? How would I prove I did this? Should it be in my records somewhere?

According to Wikipedia:

has statutory powers of arrest, or apprehension under section 807(b) of title 10, United States Code (article 7(b) of the Uniform Code of Military Justice);


While on AD I worked for an Absentee Collection Unit ( ACU ) and I did have the power to "arrest and/or apprehend" deserters. I arrest and apprehended deserters in +25 states and two foreign countries ( Italy and Brazil ) and I have had ZERO luck getting any type of paperwork from Uncle Sam that would allow me to CCW under the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act.

I also worked for the State of Arkansas and Texas where I carried a gun and a badge, plus for Uncle Sam as a contractor and still have not had any luck getting the proper paperwork.

Some of this is due to the fact that this happened over twenty years ago.

Incorrect, LEOSA only applies to MP's if separated after 10 years as an MP, and even then, have fun meeting the ID requirements of LEOSA. DD-214 doesn't cut it. They must MAINTAIN an ID that identifies them as retired law enforcement, The wording of LEOSA was changed at one point to correct that, but the "fix" doesn't' really work. I've got 2 former MP's in my Family that still can't pull it off.
 
The sheeple have given up many of our "Rights". To Carry in these times, requires a CCL, mostly so that you are Legal and not confused with a Criminal.My Arkansas CCL is good in 27 states.

And the rest of it is due to you being stark raving mad I gather?
 
Some people said that if you were a MP you can get a permit to carry in all states. Most of the MP's only saw action if they were on a gate. The men out in the bush should be granted a permit to travel because they saw more action than a MP. They were back in there bunk every night. The most action they saw with there gun was cleaning it.
 
In most cases you are correct. However all MP's are not created equal. I was in volved in an extend gun battle that started with some people atempting to run the gate of a secure installation and the fight continued as other MP's chased them back towards the gate in an attempt to escape. Never just assume that an MP never sees any live fire action. I know different from personal experience.
 
My concern with "universal" carry is that it would be granted by the Fed. If they can give it, they can take it away. Feel more comfortable dealing with States , but still believe the 2nd is my right to carry.
 
If you are suggesting that you want to apply once and have it be good in all states, that could also back fire and you could loose your rights in all states. Just stay out of those states where you can not carry. They are full of criminals.
 
Careful about seeking a universal carry law. That may mean the Feds get their hands on who does and does not get to carry, and if that happens, we know for a fact we go the way of Australia and Britain, and Obama gives the UN the 'right' to confiscate our guns. I don't want the feds any closer to my guns than I can help it, and universal carry may be that foot in the door we all regret later.

I agree but why can't all states recognized my State issued CCW permit just like they recognize my driver's license, my marriage license ( heck I can live in one state and get married in another and ALL states recognize my marriage license ), car tags, etc so why not my state issued CCW permit?

Welcome to Opposite World, where you can spend 20 bucks and 5 minutes to get a driver's license that is valid in all 50 States. But hours of training and 200 or so dollars can only get you a CCW permit that works in a few.

Lot more people dying in car accidents than being shot by legally packing folks.
