Carry Question

I cannot seem to pinpoint what the punishments are for carrying a handgun without a permit. Can someone tell me or point me in the right direction please?

Thanks

it depends on where the "crime" happens, different places have different laws and regs. some states like AZ don't require permits

Some states allow loaded carry in car if it's concealed (glove box), some allow loaded carry if it's in the open (on seat)
Check the state laws, only way to be sure.

In nc open carry is legal with no permit, concealed requires a permit.

First infraction of concealed carry without a permit is a fine, possibly a misdemeanor, can't remember. Second offense is a felony, although which class I also can't remember.

Is this open or concealed?

Is carrying a gun IWB but with the shirt tucked in, open carry or concealed carry? I mean with a standard IWB holster, just showing part of the grip. See attached photo for example. I think that open carry is when you use OWB holster.

Thanks

I believe that your thinking is quite wrong!

in FLA that would be OPEN carry and is not legal to do, other states are fairly similar, either they permit OC or they prohibit it, there is no in between

Check the gun laws of your state, it should be easy enough. Just go to your state web site and it should be able to direct you to the information you need.

I was actually asking a cop this today. He said, and this is in NC, that it would be officer discretion whether to call it open or concealed, but if charged the chances of it holding up in court are slim.

Edit: meant to quote the question about the iwb holster but apparently didn't.

cops are not the best place for legal advice, they arrest first and get legal opinions later!
