Been visiting this site for some time.....felt this forums a good one to.......post on about six other gun forums also, so I may not be too active here.

I OC most of the time but do have a lic. to conceal here in Ohio.

Welcome to the forum, as a fellow Ohio resident who also carries open. We are like most other forums and yet we are in a sense not like a lot of forums. I have enjoyed my time with the like minded citizens and it will be up to you to form your own opinions, for there will be a lot of good information if you are open to reading actively. What part of the state are you in? I'm curious about the sort of reactions you get, if any.

I'm in Ohio as well. I CC, but lately, it isn't always convenient. Warm weather, reduced layers, lighter fabric, etc... Make it difficult to conceal without dressing down and overly casual.

I live in Tuscarawas County, South of New Philadelphia and Dover.

I have always gotten looks, but have never had a single negative statement made to me and have never had MWAG call made on be by any citizen to the LE, or if there has been they have handled it correctly and explained the legality of open carry.

I often have coffee with the Chief of Police for New Philadelphia and know he is not going to send officers to a generic MWAG call, not unless there is a provocation.

What reaction you get will be determined by the mind set of the local residents. I suggest that if it makes you uncomfortable start with small short exposures and work up to just not paying anyone else no mind. I myself am at the point in my commitment that I do not care what anyone else thinks or feels about my carrying a firearm openly. I am doing nothing illegal and I am not going to harm anyone by what I am doing. Everyone needs to just get used to THIS MAN WITH A GUN.

I'm in the Delaware area. I don't think it would be an issue around here, but I get down to Columbus and the surrounding suburbs regularly.

I worry about encountering some anti-jerk that wants to make a fuss. I'm not particularly interested in being an activist, so is rather not deal with them.

Sounds like you don't have a problem with them engaging you. That's a good thing!

To all that have responded so far.....I live just out side of Beach City (not to far from you, dogshawred), and have had an ohio CHL since later part of '06.

Think I started OCing about three years ago out of conveinience, sorta old hat now to me......glad to hear about the New Philly. Chief of police.......most of the officers I've come in contact with have no issues with cc OR oc except the Brewster chief of police. As for the publics response to (my) openly carrying.....it usually leads to mostly positive conversation!

Wouldn't mind having coffee with any of ya sometime if any of ya are close enough? PM me if your interested.

I've been pushing the issue of arming our schools faculty and allowing those in the public who have children there to be able to carry also and the issue is gaining traction now and we're going to have a board meeting about it soon!

I need to be going here so I'll check back with this thread later, see ya all!
 
I am in Ohio as well, lewis Center area. I also have my ccw or cpl and very rarely oc just for the fact of encounters with the anti gun citizens.
