Career change

On the permits I have all the applications asked what I did for work. My question is do I have to let any states know that I changed my career?
I did'nt find out any info on this subject.

That's a good question.

I'd check with the issuing authority. Was the issuance of your permit in any way dependent upon, or restricted to, your employment? For example, was the permit issued conditionally because you are an armed guard, or because you routinely work in high-crime areas? If so - then MAYBE you need to advise the issuer.

Otherwise, I cannot think of a reason to do so.

Can you tell them you are an ex-bully when you were in kindy school? No...seriously, they may be asking what you do for work currently, as in NOW. Sometimes wordings in applications are very confusing to answer to.

I suppose I will try to email the states I hold permits in and see if I'm requiered to notify them.

I would think in this economy alot of people are changing occupations?

Sorry it took me a while to digest your questions...I thought you are still applying for a permit. I did not know you already have a permit? My take on this is if you already have the permit, you do not have to notify anyone of your change of career. When you applied for that permit you were in that "particular" career. Maybe you should do it when you renew your permit, if asked...just my opinion. Leave it as is. If you were a floor washer before and now has been promoted to flippin' burgers, would you tell everyone else? i do not think it matters much.

Most questions on Security type applications (THEY are checking YOUR security/background) are for confirmation purposes. If I wanted to verify an applicant for some matter of trust that claimed to be a career IT professional, I would get a researcher from the IT field to vet his app info/references etc.
I've never seen a requirement to update changes other than direct contact related info unless permit qualification/requirement depends on vocation or vendor assignment.
