Time: 8 hour course of training (1 day) 9am-5pm
Cost: $175 a person or $300 a buddy team
Combine with the 25 April NRA Defensive Pistol $300 a person or $500 a buddy team

Goal: This course is designed around the student that wants to learn the mechanics of the Ar-15 and its clones; also how to properly apply the fundamentals of marksmanship. The student can expect to learn and perform the following tasks with the Ar-15/AR-10/LR-308 system.

  • Nomenclature of parts
  • How to disassemble to owner level, basic inspection of parts & proper lube locations
  • How to maintain the firearm and the re-assemble the parts
  • Learn basic trajectory and the theory of sight alinement / sight picture
  • ZERO sights / optic correctly
  • Learn shooting positions with the use of a two point sling
  • Techniques to fire the semi-auto rifle quickly and accurately
  • Manual of arms positions: Low port, low ready, high port, high ready
  • Mechanical offset shooting drills
  • Standing position with a focus on recoil management
  • Flanking turns
  • Kneeling positions
  • Prone positions
  • Clear malfunction drills.
  • How to field strip, clean and re-assemble the firearm for storage.

Equipment needed:
1. A learning mindset
2. A AR-15 / Ar-10 / LR-308 in serviceable condition
3. 2 point sling (Blue Force Gear, MagPul MS1, Vicking Tactics, standard GI issued) and all correct hardware to attach the sling to the firearm
4. A proper cleaning kit (standard military issue is best) with lubricant
5. 400 rounds of quality ammunition that has been shot in the firearm before the class and is known to function.
6. Inert Ammunition (dummy rounds)
7. Field chair
8. Water at least 4 quarts
9. Lunch
10. Proper clothing / gloves / shoes for the event in the field (no open toe shoes / sandals)
11. Note taking ability

Qualification:
The student will shoot a basic CQM 50yd and under, 50rnd qual. The passing score is 70% or better. The student will also take a 25 question written test that they must pass with a 70% or better to earn a certificate of completion.
