I may be in Nevada next week and was wandering what the rules are as far as the guns in the car? I know I can open carry, but can I have the gun on me or does it have to be in the glove box or something like that? Thanks for the help.

Nevada state law has been interpreted to allow an individual to carry a firearm in their vehicle as long as it is not actually on the person or in a container carried by the person.

The glove compartment is not on your person, so it is legal.

You might want to research it some more, but that's the way I see it.

My Nevada CCW instructor told us the same thing. He did tell us to be careful in North Las Vegas.

You don't mention if you have a CCW that is valid in Nevada. My interpretation of Nevada law is that if you do have a CCW valid in Nevada then you are allowed to carry concealed on your person while in your car. If you don't, you can't; the firearm can be concealed in the car, in the glove box, under the seat, in the door, etc., just not on your person. I'm neither a lawyer not an LEO. Please verify this info for yourself with the proper authorities.

From the scuttlebutt I've heard, North Las Vegas still does not like to honor the revised state law allowing the carrying of firearms in that area. I'm not of a mind to test the waters. I carry concealed EVERYWHERE I go, banks, hospitals, EVERYWHERE. Low key is the way I be. :girl_wink: Why push buttons?:no:

Vehicle carry is legal per Link Removed. You can carry it openly in your vehicle or concealed (off your person) in a vehicle (center console, door pocket, glove box, under the seat and under something on the adjacent seat are all legal in Nevada. The only local code still in effect per SB92 in the 2007 legislative session is Clark County concealable firearm registration. SB92 further amended the Clark County concealable firearm registration code to exclude persons who are in Clark County for under 60 contiguous days providing they are not a resident of the County.
