Can you get a CT permit with a uncharacterized discharge?

In 2011 I was discharge from the national guard with a uncharacterized discharge for not being able to attend iet within the time period because I got held back in school. I would like a pistol permit now. The question on the form is .Do you have anything LESS THAN an honorable discharge? Do I put yes or no? I'm not sure what my discharge falls into. I was never arrested so I'm sure I can get a permit but this question confuses me. I have my ngb 22 form from the speration from the guard with re-entry code RE3

IANAL and did not stay at Holiday Inn Express lately, but I see that as comparing an apple to an orange kind of question. It's not less than an HD, it's in a different category. If I was filling that out, I'd check no, and attach copy of the discharge form.

Perhaps you should ask someone in the department that handles the permits.

There is nothing undesirable about your discharge which is defined as: An uncharacterized discharge from the military is an entry level separation issued when the enlisted person has fewer than 180 days of service. The discharge is considered neither good nor bad, because not enough time has passed to evaluate the person's conduct and performance.

You put "no".

The scale the paperwork is asking you about does not apply to you. Entry-level-seporations are as if you were never in the service in the first place. You were never "perminant party" to then have been "discharged", which is why they wrote "uncharactorised", because they have to type something in that block on your DD214; they cannot simply leave it blank.

Your re-entry code only matters to recruiters should you try to enlist again.

Please understand that this is NOT a black mark on your record in any way, AND you can still enlist; in fact you would get a lot of respect from your chain if you did.

Turned in my application today. They told me around 6 weeks I should hear back. Hoping it goes well. Looking forward to putting rounds down range asap.

Just got my permit in the mail last week it took exactly 8 weeks
