Can you carry in side a Outback or you just cant carry inside a bar that only sells drinks?

I carry conceal...At the Outback Restaurant here which I had eaten once, I carried. They do not have a sign at the door as far as I know...I am not going to be a sitting duck.

In SC you cannot legally carry in any restaurant that serves alcohol. Any business, restaurant or not, alcohol or not, if they do not want you to CC in their establishment (or mall for that matter) must display a specific-design sign saying so. You can go to the CC laws for SC that can be found in the header on the USA Carry site or the SC Code of Laws for specifics and the specific pix of the sign.
As a separate comment, it would be beneficial, IMO, if you are going to provide input to the forum, to edit your comments more carefully so that they can be better understood.

It all depends on the state you live in, here in IN i can carry anywhere but schools, and government buildings(ie ...post office, court houses etc.)

In PA it's like in IN, the only restrictions are schools, police stations, courts, government buildings etc. If an establishment doesn't have it posted at the entrance it's ok. The only other restriction that I know of is open carry on foot in Philadelphia county you need LTCF and in state parks you can only carry concealed.

We don't have "bars" in Virginia-only restaurants that serve alcohol. As of 7/1/11 we can carry in establishments with an ABC permit if we do not drink. So far we've not had any drunken massacres, in spite of all the hand-wringing

Thank you I am glad you posted this because I read the law wrong. I thought you couldn't even have a weapon on you but, it does state you can be there but no drinking. What is a ABC permit?

Here in SC I really don't know if we have bars or just restaurants or whatever but either way it is illegal to carry a gun into any place that sells alcohol for on premises consumption. Therefore there are on guns in any of these whether it is a bar, restaurant or joint. However for some unknown reason I keep reading in the news about a shooting either inside or right outside of many of these places late at night or early in the morning. I don't know how these guns keep appearing because it is illegal to have one there.

On a serious note guns and alcohol do not mix especially late at night around bars, pool halls and joints. But the law concerning those with a CWP not being able to carry has little or more likely no effect at all on the problem and number of shootings. Most of the time when you hear of such cases the people involved would probably not be able to obtain a CWP or even carry a firearm legally. Quite a number are underage or repeat offenders. In addition most of the people that I know that have a CWP do not hang out at the normal places where these things happen and get involved in the normal actives that result in the shooting. I know and admit I am doing a lot of "profiling or whatever" here.

My point is that there are going to be shootings that are as the police say "alcohol was involved" but the present restriction on CWP carrying in a place that sells alcohol for consumption has no bearing on the number.

You can conceal in a ABC restaurant as long as you don't drink. If you want to have a drink with your meal you must VA Tuck.

J3. No person who carries a concealed handgun onto the premises of any restaurant or club as defined in § 4.1-100 for which a license to sell and serve alcoholic beverages for on-premises consumption has been granted by the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Board under Title 4.1 of the Code of Virginia may consume an alcoholic beverage while on the premises. A person who carries a concealed handgun onto the premises of such a restaurant or club and consumes alcoholic beverages is guilty of a Class 2 misdemeanor. However, nothing in this subsection shall apply to a federal, state, or local law-enforcement officer.

How about this what if. You go into a restaurant with your gun concealed but decide to have a glass of wine with your meal. You have to then expose your gun to make it OC and by doing it you pull your coat/shirt back and tuck it behind your gun. Someone over at the next table sees you doing that, gets all excited thinking you are brandishing or starting to draw it or whatever the visitor from NY thinks you are doing. They jump up and start screaming he's got a gun and threatening to use it!

It might be a good idea to decide before going in whether you might like that glass of wine or not. :help:

In MN, I can carry anywhere bars included, only places you can't are school zones, and certain government buildings and places that have gun buster signs. Thankfully there aren't any of those in my town.

In PA there are no restrictions on carrying in a bar or restaurant (unless the establishment has it posted as prohibited) and you can drink too. But the two usually don't mix well. Myself, I carry discreetly in bars, restaurants and stores just to avoid attracting attention.
